DoH!!!! I am so sorry should read "left it at 1:1" and 14m, not that it matters now... I think the 2:1 setting has slightly less depower, so the whole of my above post was manure... except the last bit Still lovin it ...still stoked ... FF

I got out today again ...left it at 2:1 as the wind was directly off-shore and decided that I was being silly enough as it is so might as well go for full depower if things go wrong Still lovin it ... still stoked ... FF

That use to be my view also perhaps an excuse for not buying new kites for the last few years. I sort of saw it as the depreciation on the kite was a Holiday.. 3 kites = 3 holidays. However, my finances havent changed but we are at least down to a 2 kite quiver a 9m should take me from 11 knots to well above 40 knots. Respect to Colin over the years I have read his reviews with some interest, I am also lucky enough to try many different brands of kites, sometimes I have agreed with him and sometimes I havent. He is subjective but they are his views and if anything this thread and the other one may entice you to try one and make up your own mind!! My best advice, read his review, whenever he gets out and wet and then annoy the hell out of your local Naish stockist, if its whitstable you may have to wait until Colin returns his. PS Colin it does look very very sexy in those colors (SAME AS MY 9m and 14M ) PPS Also like Colin, I am NOT sponsored by Naish or anyone else!

Easy now!! only an observation, they took their time in the beginning buying the patent for the C kites, took their time doing 1 pump both they were delayed by a year, 5th line, same story, so if past record is to go buy expect a sigma styly kite in 2009. Best however are a lot quicker and now have the resources to copy at will and the great thing:rolleyes: is they will copy as always and not have to worry too much about the cost of R&D ..again an observation! Best did do a high end kite with new materials and the idea was really sound but it didnt do too well, probably as they had to put the excessive R&D cost into the final cost of the kite making it too expensive Not bashing and will eat humble pie if I am wrong.

The fact is the sigma shape is the holy grail if you like of design for kites as it is the most efficient shape. If I may I will try and quantify the above statement Mother nature has spent millions of years in evolution of birds to create a very similar shape and the most efficent bird is probably the albatros which can glide for miles look carefully at this picture of an albatros http://img2.travelblog.org/Photos/8060/41912/f/227289-Albatross-0.jpg and compare it to the helix http://www.edgewatersports.com/helix.jpg So the shape is more than likely the future of our kites, (the argument sounded better in my head!)

its my opinion and I am allowed them ..whether you agree or not tbh I dont care, as I am not going to change them for you or anyone else. they are in the main PARASITES and they need to be removed from the DNA pool ...I think that sums up my opinions well enough!
