In Australia there are no designated snowkite 'spots' like Skyline in North America or Col Du Lautaret in France or like kitesurfing beaches in the major cities. All of the best areas to snowkite in NSW are in the backcountry. The whole area is fair game but there is potential to have the sport banned if people start kiting in poorly thought out locations adjacent to the resorts. Every conceivable snowkite location is within the boundaries of the national park so any ban would completely kill off the sport in oz. If you are not prepared or ill-equipped to hike out into the backcountry then I would recommend leaving your kites at home and going downhill ski/boarding instea…

Hello everybody, I first like to say hello, as I'm a newbie in this forum. Now, my question: I got 3 weeks in January to go Snowkiting either in the States or in Canada...(January 5th till 25th) and I would like to have as many snowkiting days as possible just like everybody, and if there's no wind I would just go snowboarding...so that's the limitation, kinda, besides that I'm open to anything, maybe something not overly crowded... I have checked out several threads on this and other forums, but some of them seemes that some of them are kinda old... Places that I read of: Whistler, Banff, Denver area, Salt Lake City... Thank you very much for some go…

Anybody been to Glenshee in the last few days? I'm thinkin of heading up tomorrow and over the weekend but don't trust the snow reports (their idea of well covered, groomed, powder, is a bit off!). If not good cover then maybe Glen Clova? with the kite, never tried it but keen. Anyone with good locations for kiting anywhere within couple of hours of Dundee please tell. Thanks.

Iceland - May 2009 - Snowkiting Adventure Trip Here it is guys and girls, 2009's ultimate snowkiting trip: Langjökull glacier, Iceland - Friday May 15th to Friday 22nd. We've been quietly running these trips for a fair few years now and have really got it down to a tee. Last years trips were out biggest and best yet, and we plan to make them even better for 2009. There are a lot of snowkiting spots in Europe, but in my humble opinion the Langjökull glacier is THE best one out there. Here's a bit of info for you below: Friday Arrive Keflavik and transfer to Reykjavik Stay at the hotel Leifur Eiriksson and go crazy in Reykjaviks famous downtown. Saturday …

Snowboard bindings 1 2

Now, I've got the Burton SI system bindings on my board. Whilst people seem to slate step-ins for their 'float', I love mine and they feel really solid. I don't get many issues with snow/ice either.. a quick scrape with a mitt if it gets really iced up (but you'd be doing the same with straps to get your foot in properly). I have seen/used some of the cheap systems usually on hire boards and these really can be quite awful - horribly loose and jamming badly. I think step-ins are the way to go for snowkiting (don't forget that leash though - just in case!).. just purely from any ease of use perspective, especially when you've got a kite to control too. Anyone else…

Yep I hear you say "Snow!". I know it is summer but hey I'm thinking of the winter already. I'm aiming this posting at all those "on the ground" where it snows - but if you have experience let me know. The family want to go skiing/boarding next winter. OK there will be four of us and I'm looking at NO frills!!! I'm not wishing to spend mega bucks in Three Valleys etc. Looking for gentler slopes, frozen lakes ideal kiting area but one where we can have a bit of a family holiday, boys can go to ski school and my wife can look pretty and marvel at me doing kiteloops , aerial 360s and such likehttp://www.racekites.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif! Oh and I haven't skied or s…

http://perso.wanadoo.fr/fxabonnenc/images/galerie%20visiteurs/sequence2web.jpg A small look at what kiteboarding becomes now. Guillaume Chastagnol starts from the submit, send his kite and flies then for long seconds at more than 100feet high. He could have landed 300feet longer, but he prefers to make a kite-loop 25feet high for landing in the slope

Looking at some snowboards on ebay for use for snowkiting, reminds of when i first got into kites, there are soooo many different styles of board of all different lengths! Do board lengths compare to those for kitesurfing? What type of boards are good for snowkiting? Any advice would be very grateful, also any examples would also be helpful.

Corona Winter Tour - Simplon Stage Available streaming here; http://www.semnozkitesurfing.com/data_htm/media_videos/wt2k5simplonwm.htm or you can download a better version at www.kitewatch.com (although you have to register) Look out near the end - Chasta's jump off the big precipice to nail the lip of a quarter pipe before downlooping the kite to stop himself becoming part of a rock-wall is just amazing. The guy is insane!
