sinbad Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 We hear and read about our kites but what are you using to store and transport your kites in ????? This was on the briskites website are they any good any reviews ???? Jason if you want a review send one down http://www.briskites.com.au/index.php?l ... tail&p=100 Prism's Roll-up Bag allows you to put everything where you can see it and it provides a clean surface at the field where you can work on your kites without losing parts in the sand or grass. Mesh pocket ends drain sand. Zippered, detachable fanny pack holds your keys and personal items either in the back or around your waist. The Roll-up Bag has 10 large and 2 small sleeves, for your kites, plus 10 pockets fro line sets. If you need to travel with your whole collection it can easily roll up with an additional ten kites. If traveling with your kites at full length it measures 71" and adjusts 5" to 12" wide. If your kites are broken down, fold the bag over and roll it at half length (39")with an adjustable width of 5" to 12". Small enough to fit it in an overhead compartment. New extra plush padded shoulder strap! Holds 10-20 kites. Quote
spotter Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 I use a Prism Roll up bag from the revs. While they dont really fit propperly it is not a bad bag for storage. Once you have 2 rev's in it, anything else does not fit propperly, except a SUL Quote
Cesium Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 I've got two bags: a basic MLD nylong one (which is just okay but nothing fancy), and an R-sky bag. The R-sky bag is fairly pricey but I reckon it's by far the best bag you can buy. Quote
DaveA Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Ive got a HQ padded bag. Large enough for about a dozen kites, with a large segmented inner pocket for lines, aeroguard etc. ...and its tough as old boots. Recommended. Quote
Two Hands Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 I've got and used 3 bags now, the Prism Speed and Roll up and also the HQ bag. For traveling I'd go either of the Prism's as they have some reinforcement, The HQ is more a good economical solution for home storage, although once it has a few kites in it it's quite stable. Quote
Cesium Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Note though that there's a few different HQ bags and methinks Dave's padded bag is quite different to the one TwoHands has. The padded bag is really robust and tough. Quote
Two Hands Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Thanks for the clarification C, should have mentioned it, and yes you're right I have the non padded variety Quote
debster Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Got the same 3 as Two Hands. Prism roll up, Speed bag and a HQ bag, the non-padded variety. The HQ I only use for home storage too. The R-Sky bag looks sweet and there's a roll up Rev bag round too. I've only ever seen Prism and HQ bags for sale in Australia. If you travel a lot and want to protect your kites with a rigid case I hear some people use something called Sportube. Debster Quote
steve_hobart Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 I have the large Prism bag - but only use that to store kites at home that I am not currently flying. For me the Speedbag is the one I use daily and it currently contains a SUL and standard kite and a couple of different linesets... cheers steve (PS: Deb, how is the Airbow going?) Quote
Must86 Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 I use 2 large Prism bags, 2 speed bags, and an old New Tech bag. And a couple of non-padded HQ bags for SLKs. I carry one of the speed bags with me everyday, and the rest stay home for the most part. I used to carry my Zephyr & case everywhere, but I've left that in my wife's car, so there's always a kite when you need one... ~Rob. Quote
TassieDevil Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 I'm using one of those long "square" bags with a draw-string at one end that most of those el-cheapo folding picnic chairs seem to come in these days.. only becos that's what my old 2nd-hand Rev was sent in. There is enough room for my 2 other kites (Hypnotist and Silver Fox UL) as well.. and whilst it offers absolutely no protection for the kites whatsoever, it DOES have a torn hole in the other end that's just bloody perfect for losing expensive carbon rods through. Considering the cost of the folding chairs (about $10), I'm guessing the bag is worth about 20c. Gary Quote
Jared Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 I had been using the cheap HQ duffel bag, but I recently upgraded to the R-Sky bag and I love it. However, it's best suited for throwing in the car and driving it to the flying field, when it's fully loaded, it's not much fun to walk with it over one shoulder. I also have a padded Prophecy bag for my super-long kites (Prophecy and Total Eclipse) Quote
steve_hobart Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Oh man...where did you find that Jared ? Those padded Prophecy bags are great...and like hens teeth !! cheers steve Quote
jhn.holgate Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 If I'm wondering up the neighbor's hill, or taking a heap of gear to a gkc race (LOL, like, I've been to two!!) - I use my rucksack. Easy to wear, can stick quite a few kites, harness, gps, wind meter, drinks, sunnies etc etc. Can also through it on the seat of the buggy too. Hmmmm, I wonder if it would be heavy enough to use as an anchor...... Quote
Jared Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Oh man...where did you find that Jared ? Those padded Prophecy bags are great...and like hens teeth !! cheers steve I was lucky enough to find it second hand on another forum; I just wish it came with a shoulder strap, it's a little awkward to carry by the handle (since it's about 80 inches long).
