  1. Thanks Keith Appreciate the offer. I'll contact you through a PM when I can make it. Cheers Debbie
  2. Hey Keith I know what you mean, there just aren't any regular flyers around or for that matter a great many areas to fly in. Overseas they seem to be into much more than here, which I've always found odd considering our climate, don't really know what it is. People still look at me strangely if I say I like stunt kiting because I'm pretty sure none of them realise what's out there and assume I like flying $20 kites from the local hobby store lol. The only contact I have woith other flyers is these kite forums. It would have been great to meet up with some people who had more experience than me when I started but any improvement I've made has been practice or what I could learn through DVD's or on line (Thank God for the internet) I always have problems trying to find anywhere clear areas with sufficient wind in Ipswich, pretty well a lost cause actually and down the coast I have to pick the right time and areas ( no problem with winds) because of all the people around. Lucky I enjoy it so much and perservere. I'd realy love a good area and good breezes to fly in with other people interested in stunt kites, but I'm afraid there aren't too many of us or maybe we just don't know how to find each other. If we tried to organise something Keith I fear we might be the only ones there. I've kind of resigned myself to it being a solo experience which is a shame. Why aren't there more people interested in it in Australia? I'd much rather have my nephews out with me flying than see them sitting in front of a computer all the time. What areas do you fly in in the suburbs you mentioned? Parks? Maybe one day we'll actually have stunt flying clubs? Who knows. Cheers Debbie
  3. Hi Matzelkite Does the Gold Coast or Ipswich count? I live in Ipswich but often go flying down the Gold Coast. Hard to find other people round who do stunt kite flying. Where do you fly in Brisbane? Cheers Deb
  4. Well done Mat. I filled in some time not long ago making kite bags with my nephews when we could'nt get out flying. Got any picks of your kite bag? Cheers Deb
  5. Nice Score. Anyone else got pics?
  6. I got a Wala and a HQ Tango for christmas from my nephews and I've been looking out the window at the rain for 5 days now. I'm over it, let me outside!!!! Anyone else score?
  7. Hi All I'm always interested in any info on kite flying when I can find it, Peter Massey's book (mentioned in another thread is excellent) but books are really scarce on flying and I find I'd rather watch how a trick is being done to learn it than read how to do it. I learn more quickly that way. I know there's a guy called Randy G does great video tuorials and I've come across a guy called DP Mama74 ( I think his name is Martin, he lives in Denmark ) has some good video tutorials on you tube. And I was wondering if anyone could recommend anyone else along these lines that's worth checking out. Cheers Debbie
  8. I've never flown a rev or an R-Sky kite, Santa can bring me either one of these I think ......
  9. PM sent Cheers Deb
  10. Lol forgot to answer my own question Dave. If Santa was being really generous my own private flying area at the nearest beach with a lovely constant breeze, or failing that a nice private field next door to me with the same breeze would be great for starters. It would be lovely to not have to watch out for who was about to run into my lines and just enjoy the flying completely. I think it should be compulsory to have flying fields in all suburbs ( with wind supplied of course) A big ask I know but a girl's allowed to dream ......What would I fly there ? ........ Hmmm I will have to narrow it down and get back to you. Something new I haven't tried before I think..........
  11. Alright time for a new topic, it's getting round to that time of the year again. So what would everyone like Santa to put in their stocking this Christmas? Keep it clean. I think I'd like a ........ Deb
  12. Thanks Steve I'll give it a go just for the fun of it. Can't say I've ever thought of doing it. Doesn't look like too many have tried the Q-Flaps. Cheers Debbie
  13. Thanks Jason I'll keep an eye out for the HQ , can I just email you at Briskites to order the Prodancer? What would the price be roughly? I know I'm hoping with the R-Sky bag but hey a girls gotta dream lol Cheers Debbie
  14. Hi Has anyone seen or tried the Q-Flaps that Skyburner are selling on their site. I'd be interested to know if they really work and how they'd actually alter a kites flight or is it all hype? Anyone? Cheers Debbie
  15. Hi Was looking to pick up a Prodancer SUL, HQ Shadow and an R-Sky Kite Bag (as you can no longer buy them new) If anyone has either of these 2 kites or knows someone who does and wants to sell them or if anyone has an R-Sky kite bag they would like to sell, please send me a PM Cheers Debbie
  16. Thanks Dave I'll check it out.
  17. Thanks Goz I'll Give him a try Debbie
  18. Hi All Thought maybe someone on the forum could help me with a small problem I'm having. I've been taking my nephews out kite flying with me ( they are 7 and 13 ) and now they are hooked I thought I might fill in the down time when the wind has disappeared or it's raining by making a couple of kite bags for them but I can't seem to find a source for the materials. Some kind of heavy weight nylon or cordura, mesh, nylon thread etc. Does anyone have any idea where I can get the materials from ? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Debbie
  19. Thanks Everyone Looks like the double zero is the pick for indoor, but I'd like to get more experience on no/low wind kites before I take the step. Know what you mean about the gentle inputs Steve, sometimes I think I should have mastered no/low wind kites before the standard, but I love learning new stuff. Gary - I find the 3D twitchy and difficult to try and trick ( but that could be my flying capabilities lol) and before I get too frustrated and throw it in the cupboard I thought I'd put it down and perhaps get some advice on an easier one to learn on and come back to it. From what I've read a few people have had this problem but I'd like to persevere and come back to it. Sometimes I think you can click with a certain kite and others you don't and maybe I'm just not getting the 3D if that makes sense. I'd like a good no wind and a low wind kite. Double zero looks like the pick for no wind. Would'nt know how to go about looking for an ozone or HQ Shadow so I think I'll check out the Airwave, the Blue Moon and the Skyburner. Interestingly no-one mentioned the nirvanas. No thoughts on those? Cheers Deb
  20. Hi All Been Playing with a Prism 3D last few months but I want to upgrade to another low wind kite. Any suggestions on best make and models to look at? Noticed Briskites has a range but not sure what to choose. Any ideas? Cheers Deb
  21. Half your luck Rob being so close to a beach. I do most of my flying at the beach, kind of have to really to save on repairs lol but I have managed to snap a spine even there. I'm an hour drive away so I only get there once a week and then I have to find a quiet spot which isn't always easy. It's like kite lines have a magnet in them that draw people towards them lol You'll never need help with a kite addiction ....... It's a good addiction
  22. Hmmm - At my count that's about 50 Rob - Very Impressive. You must have a flying field very close to you. How do you store them all? Kite Bags?
  23. Steve I'll give the number a ring next week. Thanks TH - Thanks for the advice , much appreciated, hadn't thought of photos , good idea. Hopefully soon I'll be adding to the numbers of future kite fliers. Cheers Debbie
  24. Hi I've decided to replace the bridle line on a couple of old kites to give to my nephews to see if I can interest them in coming flying with me. I'm hoping this isn't too silly a question but I've never done it before so I'm not sure where to get bridle line from or or is there something else I can use. Tips on doing it would be good too. Cheers Debbie
  25. Hi I contacted a kite shop in US that had these 2 bags listed (and as you say HQ bag supposed to be re-realeased next year but they had no r-sky bags in stock when I checked with them (even though it's on their web site ) and did'nt know when or if it would be back in. Cheers Deb
