craig.w1599968638 Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 RK should be taken offline, its not right leaving it up knowing that its infecting people! Quote
Anne1599968726 Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 I'm getting confused, can one of these threads get killed please? Quote
Middleend Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 Yup I stupidly had to go out and left the damn thing running and it overloaded the virtual memory...DOH!! Luckily have Norton and seems to be clear. Did some looking into this and nihaorr1.com is a server hosted by Xin Net in Beijing China, it seems that it has a history for hosting spammers. http://spamtackers.eu/wiki/index.php?title=Xin Net#Description of the registrar gives a little background. Apparently the infection is called a "sql injector" and from what I can understand, and I could well be wrong...that inserts code within sql database fields, hence their complete loss of data. Apparently It exposess a weekness in Windows IIS which is why I guess fiefox is still working. For more info goto http://forums.iis.net/p/1148917/1867622.aspx. I am guessing that if you are an SQL user you should stay well clear. I agree with Craig W they should take the site offline if they can. Quote
Pyro_Stu Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 RK is offline now, I had no problems though I'm using FF with script blocker plugin, didn't even realise it dad been hacked again until I noticed that all the avatars and sigs were gone... Quote
Taunton Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 I find you're more likely to get an argument here than on RK. No you not:D Quote

Atavar Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 This is damn awful My thoughts are with martin, having to watch all that good work get trashed. The attack is coming from china? Who's going to start an unfounded Pansh rumor... oh, that'll be me then Quote
sym170 Posted April 20, 2008 Author Report Posted April 20, 2008 haha:D if anything pansh would have attacked here, racekites must equal more than half of pansh's income lool Quote
Timmy1599968758 Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 i think i got the better seat so far.. not been taken out with any viruses and wont be for a long time as i use my dads pc and he runs linux... yea better than microsoft no virus has been made for it as of yet... shame racekites down as said before ideal for the newbie Quote
Ped Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 For the IE users like myself it might be worth your while running a few scan this morning. I have AVG free, Zone alarms fire wall + spybot running on my machine and I left them running full scans when I went to bed last night - needless to say they picked up quite a few different nastys on my comp........... 14 different spyware probs + 7 viruses:( I can only assume I got them from the race kites site as I run scans every couple of day and haven't downloaded anything for a while now ( or visited any porn sites before anyone asks:)) AVG moved the viruses to the virus vault but cant heal them - so I just deleted the files from there and Spybot killed the spyware tho it had to be restarted and kill acouple of them from there. Anyways my comp isn't the healthest at the moment:( Ped:) Quote
eazyrider Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 well its still fecked im just shocked that the racekites admin havent pulled it offline its flashing up with some nasty stuff so if anyones been on there and there AV hasnt blocked things I wish you luck!!! As one of the admin on racekites the only reasson it didnt get pulled quicker is that only one person has the power to do that, and they cant be expected to sit there all day watching the site. Dont forget it was started and is still owned by one man, who has a day job and a normal life to get on with. Imagen you had you own web site, would you sit there all day waiting for it to get hacked? The mods, advisors and admin are there mainly to stop abuse in the forums. To me its a shame its now been hacked twice (yes I use IE ) there was a lot of very good info on there. Plus you dont get the flexi mods bearing down on you over there So who's gonna start the racekites refuge thread then Quote
Anne1599968726 Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 I ran my slow as hell zonealarm scans last night. Found the same 4 minor spy things I always have, and no viruses. Good old firefox Quote
nudge1599968719 Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 well said eazy. Firefox did prove to be the tool to be running though. If you have downloaded the virus and its stuck in your heal section if running AVG clean out your temp files and it should clear it. Lots of history of a kiting community lost, tis a shame Quote
Lem Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Anyone want to buy a racekites-proof pc? Quote
Anne1599968726 Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Site seems to be back up now ok is it safe? Quote
thegman89 Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Site seems to be back up now ok is it safe? Yep - seems fine to me! Quote
Anne1599968726 Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Yeah well it "seemed fine" to me too, when it was battering all the IE users with viruses. Do we have word from admin that its safe and secure? Quote
Pyro_Stu Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Yep, all the nasties are gone, anyway with firefox it was never not safe. Quote
Anne1599968726 Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 I'm on firefox too, and I've just posted the question on RK. Just because it looks safe doesn't mean it is. Quote
Ped Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 I'll wait till you get a responce before venturing over Anne - thats my comp just back to full working order now!!! Lots of Viruses, spyware and Adware finally removed! I'm just hoping none of them pop back up in the morning when the comp restarts again.......... Ped:) Quote
