Hi Jason, pants look great, my ice hockey shorts are to bulky and dont flex much. I'll pick up a pair off you when I'm back from hamstring repair. Have you got the Hillbilly tops instock?, if so, is it made of a tuff outer fabric, or is it Lycra type stuff.

Hi M,

I've been using a pair of Roces crash shorts for about 6 months now and they seem to work well

The hillbilly shorts look like they have more padding though, and they get better reviews than the roces

Kind regards

While we are on the subject of crash pants, if you were a belt with your regular pants, if the belt is made from stiff leather that can dig into your back really hard when you have a fall. I learnt this the hard way. So now I wear a simple cotton braided belt.

Got my Hillbilly shorts yesturday from Briskites, and tryed them out this afternoon down at Prez park, and after 3 hrs of kiting I didnt even fall once. So I tryed to fall on purpose, and couldnt do that either (my ego wouldn't let me) to many people watching. So got home put the shorts on, picked up the rubber mallet and started hitting myself with it, I didnt feel a thing, they are awsome.

One of the kids walked in with this confused look on his face and said, ''what are you doing, are you hitting your self with the hammer dad ?''.

I explained that these shorts are so I wont hurt my self when I fall. Then I get in an exited little voice "can I try and hit you with the hammer too".

I gave him the hammer and looked behind me only for a moment and then CAPOW, the little bugger got me right on the thigh were there's no padding. :fie: He ran inside and came out with an ice pack, it was a nice gesture, but shit it hurt. :cray:

Oh well it was my falt for letting him have a go.

Ye nearly all good now Marty, but still taking it easy mate.

Every now and then I get a little reminder when I feel a slight twinge of sharp pain in the hammy, telling me, dont you do any jumping yet :blush2:

Just as well the young fella only took to your thigh George he may have decided to choose a more sensitive area instead and that would have really tried the crash pants out :D

So today i revieced my hill billy crash shorts - and i must say they look good... I guess ill be trying my first time on skates this weekend if the wind is weak enough :D

//M

Ok ive read quite a few guides on how to get starting on my skates - and now im abit confused :dontknow:

So when i start sit back against the wind. Kite laying at a 45 degree angel to the wind direction. Wich way should the skates point? Straight down win direction or at a 90 degree angel to the wind direction?

Ive made kinda rouch drawing to show what i mean :)

Wich would be right - the green or the blue line?

Hi M,

its the Blue line that is the right way, thats the direction you should be heading in. You should have the kite always facing down wind, and you should be taveling 90 degrees from that, again which ever direction the wind is blowing the kite should be down wind, (unless you whant to go up wind, which means you go slightly into the wnd direction.)

If you were to travel down wind it would be very difficult to keep the kite in the air with out looping or doing figure 8 with the kite, and then you have the problem of getting back up to the place you started from to do it again.

Ahh thx alot :)

I though so it makes alot more sense than the green line :)

Well hoping for some good wind wind this weekend (And when i say good i mean very weak :D )

So found a nice spot last sunday - the wind was good, the ground was firm, the direction was great - everything was good - besides i left all my safety gear at home >.<

Well hoping to get time to fly this weekend then :D

Btw ive just ordered a imp trainer 2,5m for my wife - she wants to fly for the fitness aspect :clapping:

Great idea M,

get her involved, then she'll understand why you get so exited about kiting, and she'll let you go more often.

And now for my Quote for the day. "Couples who fly together, stay together". :yes3:

Posted

Yea that was my though aswell :)

Well i vertanly hope so as its less than 3 months since we got married :D

Btw are you using harness or do you fly without it?

//M

Posted

Yep, Im harnessed in, you have to be with a depower kite, (I'll ad a close up photo at the end for you)

and it also a good idea for fixed bridal kites, as you cant hold on to the handles for to long during a long kiting session.

BUT, as you are still just finding your feet with kite skating, its good to know if you get into any trouble you can just let go of the handels, with kite killers on though.
