CrashMatt Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 Strange question maybe but does anyone have any recommendations for good scudding shoes? I have always worn a stout pair of walking boots when flying for ankle protection, but have notice that as often as not they give too much grip and that can bend ankles more than if you get sliding from the get go. kinny Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 cheapo trainers, ive got some £5 ones from the local cheap shoe emporium, they have flat sloes to which helps i guess. I never really thought about ankle support when scudding, only really when on the board and with feet in bindings does it come to mind a little. Your ankles should be fine when scudding though unless your area has holes or lots of possible obstacles? Quote
bradking Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 skate shoes, fine for the beach... Quote

Just brought a pair of those Doubt I'll be wearing them on the beach for a while though . I always wear walking boots, the amount of times I fall off my landboard its worth the non - scuddingness. Well, thats my excuse for not being able to scud:o Quote

My kids think i'm trying to be trendy. They didn't want to believe me when i said i used to have a pair when i was at school. All the "Skater boys" wear them now apparently. Quote
rowlf Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 i agree with appo plastic bottles strapped to your shoes is the way forward. Quote
tobylerone Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 I always found that the heel on walking boots cut into the mud too much and were too restrictive when switching from scudding to jumping. Nike SB trainers for sure. They've even armoured the toes to stop them getting torn by excessive wear. Picked up last season's in a sale for about 50 quid Quote

Batho_777 Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 Pop bottles are def the way to go....... Come in different shades, sizes, can be customised to fit......wot more u need! Quote
andy159 Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 A nice fat pair of skate shoes are the best as the have nice flat soles and give ankle support too, thats what they are designed for as skaters put their ankles through a lot of punishment and so a good pair of trainers offers good ankle protection too. Nemo Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 Converse lost all their cool the day Tony Blair was spotted wearing a pair:D Thats why I didn't go for the black pair that everyone has Mine are brilliant, and definitly not for the oldies Quote
CrashMatt Posted February 29, 2008 Author Report Posted February 29, 2008 AAwww Damn.......I am totally seeing how the pop bottle thing is going to be great fun but I have only just got the missus to come out and fly with me after a load of convincing. I fear that when she sees me with a pair of Pespi max* bottles strapped to my feet all my hard work may be undone.....aswell as my marriage too:( *other soft drinks are available Quote
Oceag Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 You don't need special shoes for scudding. learn to face scud or the reverse inverted head scud. Even the 4rse scud, legs up or down works. Or the side of head scud body up style. Non of these, in my extensive experience require shoes. Quote

Guest appo Posted March 1, 2008 Report Posted March 1, 2008 although pop bottles are probs best "all rounder" scudding shoes, we are currently testing out some proto's of some serious top market threading boomshackalack attack shoes, for the use of serious "scudding" all the top flight peeps will be sporting them, and it wont be long before we see "similar" models coming out of china. As you can see these babies are set for ultimate lift/speed ratio, all twaeking on the leading edge has been set in over 1000 hrs R&D, they have been tested at the finest secret locations across the globe and the patent pending internal ribs are a thing of beauty. you will also see the obvious "patent pending" venting system, wowaweewaa!!! The rear of the shoe has been put together within 2mm diffrence offering the rider the ride of a lifetime. http://appozone.com/news/shoes.JPG Quote
