Skyhooked Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 when are you going and who are you flying with? Quote
SandMonster Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 not been since I started kiting Arrecife's probably cool ...loads of people go with windsurf/mountain bikes etc. I wouldn't have thought Costa T is any good for Kitesurf unless you do early mornings/ late evenings as it gets packed - Famara is probably the best place, think there's a school there too Quote
hankster Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 i went to costa teguise 2yrs ago and took a 9m viokite and scrub landboard nothing was asked and no extra charges.if your going kitesurfing i found a ferry trip to fuerventura or a ride over the other side of the island to playa famara is where its all at.you can hire gear out there which seemed to be 90% naish also you can have lessons if needed.the only problem i found with lanzarote is you need to hire a car to get anywhere. denny Posted January 25, 2008 Author Report Posted January 25, 2008 im off there at the end of june for 10 day Quote
ice1599968754 Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 Was in Lanzarote 2nd week of jan, only two days of wind in the week i was there. Learnt there last sept. There are a couple of kite schools there but costsa noesta is the best one for kiting, it's run by two blokes santia and jamie, both are iko instructors and very good, santai's english aint great but you can understand him but jamie speaks perfect english and both are top blokes. Safety is paramount with the guys and they are very strict on it. The quility of intstruction was fantastic and even my mother at 54 had two lessons and loved every minute, she will be taking more in april when they go back. There are only two main spots for kiting out there on lanzarote it's self which are playa honda and famara, famara is a surfing beach, big waves and lots of them, not the best for doing water starts in as gets tiring fighting waves and kite as a newbie, but great i would imagine for the experienced. not much to do in famara area as it is not comercialised at all there, no night life! but this means cost of meals and that are cheap there and there is a fantastic baguette and cake shop for a spot of lunch in the small town bit. only seen playa honda spot from plane when landing but didn't go there. It's alot smaller though than famara which is miles long. Oh there are no rules on wearing of clothes on famara either mixed clothes and nudes on the beach. Hot naked 23 year old lying right in middle of beach where we were learning made instruction and kite flying extremely difficult to concentrate! Quote
ice1599968754 Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 oh if your going to fly by xl airways you have to book kite kit on in advance or you will get major probs at airport on booking in, annoying bit bout them is if you take a surf board its £30 quid, if you take kitesurf kit it's £45 bloody quid!!! how they work that one out i don't know. i travelled with my step father though and we both took our kitesurf kit in the one north combie bag which we filled and squeezed in my mother and girl friends wetsuits as well to take the ****. it was huge and heavy but there is no weight limit once you have paid the £45 quid.
