daZZa-S Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 Hi everyone Just a heads up, Graham Bobin who is our National Trainer and the UK Blokart Distributor and uses Gwithian for his Activites through his Extreme Air Company, he has a Black Mits L200 regulars will know him. He has been working with the Council etc etc, he went to a meeting with local land owners who are trying to implement a ban, and yes they have said they are going to ban everything in the Summer months !!!!!!! Which will mean buggies/boards, Blokarts etc, they are even looking at Kite surfing etc etc. If you know Graham please talk to him about what to do, We as a National Governing body are Backing Graham and we are asking all our members to write letters etc. It would be good to get your support on this as well, We have said to the land owners that Zoning is the best option but they wont listen. So if you Use Gwithian please be very responsible and please be insured, so we can hopefully change their minds on this. if you can email Graham with a letter of support stating why you use it, where you travel from/live etc, the money you spend in the local shops/cafes etc etc that would be great. Head your Email Gwithian Activities Restrictions. Grahams email address is gbobin@speedsailuk.com Grahams website is www.speedsailuk.com all his contact details are on there. Cheers Chris Moore BLSA Chairman www.theblsa.com May want to raise this as a thread in the local guidlines and restrictions section or beach zone to get more people's interest. Quote
ziggi Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 Letter sent! Here we go again, WHY is it that people hate to see others enjoying themselves. No accidents recorded to third parties, no damage caused to land etc so WHY ask fo a ban? OH YES! to stop others enjoying themselves. Or so they can allow their Dogs to run around on a banned beach and S**t everywhere in peace (not all I know, just the few) F**k I hate this narrow minded vision, we (the UK) are missing out on so much because of the 'blame = claim' culture, everyone is so worried about if they'll get sued Zig' Quote
13window Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 hell I hope there going to ban everyone else from having fun too or is it just kiters. Jesus, horses are aloud on the beach and sh!t everywhere and fu** all gets said about that. come to think about if they sh!t all over the street down here fu*k all gets down about that. who are the land owners anyhow???? Agree with ziggi about the narrow minded people of this country. Rant over, best get back to work!!! Quote
daZZa-S Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 What they are going to inforce it like they inforce the dog ban. Quote
nobby Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 they'll do nothing daZZa, just carry on as normal. who has the time or resources to bother chasing us about? Quote
daZZa-S Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 they'll do nothing daZZa, just carry on as normal. who has the time or resources to bother chasing us about? Yep totally agree. Who's going to be about in early morning, evening, full moon sessions? For example the feking car park attendant can't be bothered to look around the cars. Twice iv'e parked and she's just ignored my car. The only jip will be from the Life Guards during the day. And to be honest it's not even worth flying then. Can hear the calls to the police... "There's someone flying a kite on the beach officer" PMSL Quote
nobby Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 chase me pig, chase me. best have long arms of the law too, i can jump Quote
Team Hog Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 I suspect Graham is getting into the ins & outs of it, there is gudance from other groups who have been thru it SWATK for instance. They have a vast knowledge on the subject I emailed Graham about it, so the offer is there. It depends on whio the land owners are, the Crown or private. Some say they own the beach but only lease it from the Crown. Its is probably the access to the beach that will be the issue. Anyways there is help out there if needed, I would think that something on a local level would be best but if you guys just want to stick you head in the sand then thats your choice. I think that equipment used can be siezed by the police, but as you say they gotta catch you after they enforce the ban even if they can do such a thing Quote
nobby Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 i see what you say hog, and afaik, the land is leased. i'm all for doing whatever can be done to remedy this before any ban is put in place, and i'll certainly write graham a letter. when i calm down a bit. Quote

Thats cool Nobby, let us know what the official line is & see if we can help. If its leased from the Crown that as far as I am aware its a good thing for access! Quote

We travel to Gwithian to join him for BBQ's, again all sourced from local stores; if it wasn't for this sport 1000's of £ would have gone elsewhere. Because he has purchased it everything is sourced local, anyone who rents one tends to bring the supplies with them. Bill, fancy the hostel buisness now? Zig' Quote
cookster Posted April 12, 2008 Author Report Posted April 12, 2008 and uses the local CafeYou can say that again!! Quote
daZZa-S Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Wooooo... a bit happyer now. Look at the ban thread. Last comment "They want to ban our sports from July 7th until Sept 7th which to be honest is when the beach is busiest, but when we all want to use it ie when its windy people dont sit on the beach !!" Personally.. I can live with that but a zoning option would be prefable up towards the less busy parts (teach the f*ckers that decide to set up and fly on the busy parts to walk a bit). Even better still a time restriction. 11am - 4pm would be good. Quote
13window Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 whose coming down the beach then???? Quote
