rosco585 Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 Hi everyone, Well as the title says which one would you go for? 16m or 19m Venom? I fly inland in fairly gusty conditions and sometimes struggle to get going in the smaller winds (using my 12m phantom)! Will either of those kites help me? Cheers guys.. Quote
crut Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 How much do you weigh? I am 15 stone and have a 16m venom which will get me going in about 10, start getting fun about 14-5mph and take me up to 25mph. I found the 12m phantom didn't do much for me until well beyond 20mph. Hope this helps. Quote
rosco585 Posted October 22, 2007 Author Report Posted October 22, 2007 12 stone something like that! So would recommend the 16m over the 19m then? Quote
cuckfield flyer Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 i have a 16 and a 19 v2 and have only used the 19m all summer it was flying yesterday in very light winds 3 - 6 mph max if i wasnt on a farmers field i would have been boarding with it(holes all over the place:( ) Quote
rosco585 Posted October 22, 2007 Author Report Posted October 22, 2007 good to know mate, all this helps. Thanks Quote
SoggyUK Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 I'd say 16m, unless your into k-surfing then the 19m is awesome. Quote
keyrb101 Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 i kitesurf and landboard with my 19m and i can get jumps in about 8 knots in the water on my door just practising backrolls etc!!! even les wind on land!! ps its for sale..... Quote
northern jim Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 At 85kg I found the 16 V2 not much better than my 13 V1 for low winds. Decided to go for a larger bow kite instead and sold the V2. I'd go for the 19 if you are thinking of using it on the water, just remember how slow the Venoms are even in the smaller sizes! Quote
rod_bunny Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 Flew a V16 and V19 back to back landboarding - the V16 turns quicker so your able to pop jumps earlier BUT if you get a bigger bar for the V19 the turn speed improves to about the same plus you get a better bottom end. Depends on your weight as well, if your light then you'll find the V19 will pull you off line before it gets to zenith for a jump because of the bottom end grunt (Fine on the water because you can edge against it). Loved my Vs for land use. PS Buy keyrb101's one, cause he's been trying to sell it for ages. Quote
rosco585 Posted October 23, 2007 Author Report Posted October 23, 2007 Right, I went for the 16m Venom in the end! Just need some wind, as usual! Thanks for all the help... Quote

rod_bunny Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 Sorry keyrb101.... I tried.... You'll come back... you KNOW you'll want a 19 Quote
RoBaTrOn Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 I'm about 12 stone and I fly a 13m Venom II and it lifts me between 6 and 10 feet! depending on wind range. I use the Venom II in winds around 12-25 mph. If you want to sh*t yourself you should try my Flysurfer Speed 13m in 10+mph winds! LOL! Quote
