smoo Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 My backside is too close to the ground, but the seat straps are as tight as they will go. Any ideas how to get some more clearance, other than bigger wheels. Quote
Mini Michael Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 I have this same problem with my radsail buggy...... Quote
martin Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 What type of seat is it? I have the better seat & the seat side come right over the top of the side rails to keep it higher. Quote
dreadycraig Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 This must be a peter thin problem, mine is the same. I made a belly pan which lifts my bum slightly. Quote
legoman#16 Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 try turning the axle the other way around cheers dan Quote
LetoII Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 It's the way PL's are designed, you're ass is about an inch off the floor so that you're lower in the buggy. This means your arse will impact on any and everything out there. Answer is to either get a decent buggy, or a different seat if you can find one that fits and still holds the back axle on lol Quote

smoo Posted October 3, 2007 Author Report Posted October 3, 2007 Get a cushion? Wish I'd had one the last time, hit a big stone at twelvty mph. 5.04cm to the right and I would have been singing an octave higher:D Quote

8015 Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 It's the way PL's are designed, Designed????? Don't get me going on PL's again. I'll try not to! If your PL is a little low, get a pipe bender and gently increase the bend at the back of the siderails so that they leave the buggy at a steeper angle. Flydad did it to mine years ago, made a useful improvement and I've never broken it. I've never broken it because I haven't used it for years, it would probably last 5 minutes the way I fly now. The modification described will not improve your warranty status in any way. Jim Quote
smoo Posted October 3, 2007 Author Report Posted October 3, 2007 Thats an idea to consider. Its also made me wonder if its possible to make spacers to go between the back axle and frame. Quote

dreadycraig Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Many thanks Dreadycraig, it looks quite easy to make, just a matter of finding the right materials well, i used 3mm Plywood, just make sure u cut it with the grain in the correct direction so it bends easily. for attaching it, you could use zip ties, but then it won't be easily removable. i bought some webbing/strapping (the red stuff in the photos)and some buckles from B & Q at the same time as the ply. dreadycraig Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Here's a picture of it removed from the buggy. FYI it is 70cm wide and 60cm high http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd259/dreadycraig/Bellypan1.jpg Quote
Dupski Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 Hi Smoo I had the same problem with my Peter Thin Comp. Best way I found was to run the two rear seat straps over the back axel the other side of the side rail attachments so they come into the back of the seat at an angle. My PL was great for cruising. Got a backrest for it from Trikbitz on here which made it really comfortable. Have upgraded to a flexi now since I am getting into jumping Russ My backside is too close to the ground, but the seat straps are as tight as they will go. Any ideas how to get some more clearance, other than bigger wheels. Quote
