lickedysplit_au Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 Mr JKS....Look what you have done, you gotta watch where you use that ballsy word!! Schools out lesson learnt, anymore and I guess we'll have to sort it out at the bus stop My opinion is still the same though, if you looks at o/s racing and records held through out the world majority of them are held on a fixed bridle. Always flown fixed bridles in good conditions and always will in my buggy under the suggested perfect conditions because thats what I get the most out of. Clearly others have differing opinions and thats what makes this world such a beautiful place, would be pretty damn boring if we all liked and flew the same thing Marty please don't tell......Who wants to feel the rath of Mr Sinbad!! NOT ME!! Quote
jdhot Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 im a bit of a newbie flow my first depower the other day only a small 4.5 gin i wind was only about 10 to 15 and flying at murraie i found that fixed bridle are a little more on the edge of ur seat exciting if yu like the unpredictable sence more of a adrenaline rush were the depower u were in more control predictable but as i said its only a 4.5 but as it was only my first depower flight will be out for some more reaserch lol experience so far bring spare undies with a fixed bridle lol Simon Simon understand it was your first go on a depower, wish choice to play in light wind but a 4.5mtr depower would only be starting to perform at 15knts +++++++++++ Hope you get a stronger day cheers :D JD Quote
JKS Posted March 21, 2009 Author Report Posted March 21, 2009 I had a bit of a sniff around for Speed Records, the only 2 list I could find were popeyes and Buggybagmans http://pic7.piczo.com/Popeyethewelder/?g=44407598&cr=7 http://www.buggybags.co.uk/pages/gps/web%20data.htm There's bugger all detail as to what kite the pilots were flying .... anyone got any links to other speed lists ?? Marty p.s. Peter .... Quote
Andyfly Posted March 21, 2009 Report Posted March 21, 2009 Wa-hoo... balls and issues, always close travelling companions. With my limited experience I would have to say the question asked about fixed v's depower is the same as asking which would win a race between a Subaroo WRX with all the gear v's Phase 3 Ho falcon. Conditions will be a huge factor, as both could win depending on conditions. The Fixed bridal like the Ho will need Jet/canopy size to suit wind speed, the timing and points dwell/bridal will need to be set before taking off...... then it's sit-down-shut-up-and-hang-on The Depower like the WRX has a CPU/brain to change settings as needed on the go. Timing and fuel delivery/AoA will vary according to conditions at the time....also sit-down-shut-up-hang-on but with air bag saftey. Both will go hard, both could win, depending on conditions. I know which I prefer.... HO all the way... Andy Quote
Andyfly Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 C'mon mods.... the above comment is clearly off topic... This thread is not about the size of anyones "grin"..... it's all about the size of the persons "Balls" .. Andy (sporting one bigger than te other ) Quote
schmik Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 Ok... So thats 116kph fixed bridle in a bug. Kitesurf has done 94kph on a depower. One is sitting, one is standing, one is on a smooth surface, one is on a rough surface. I think that when it comes to tops speed it comes down to windspeed. The kind of kite and the type of craft do not matter much. Having said that, i think the pro racing fixed bridles are probably the MOST EFFICENT kites available. For power per sqaure meter these things would be king. But..... most of the speed racing done on snow is done with depowers. I missed fixed bridles soooo bad when i first got rid of all of mine that i kept going out and buying more. I liked how physical it was to fly them. I liked the forearm workout... now i just beet off more to stay in shape Some times i do this in the air when i am soaring on my depower, after all you only need one hand to fly it. What else would YOU do with your spare hand? mike Quote
