Hi everyone, this is my first post.

I have a question about the Blade 4.9 and the rage 6.0.

I want a lifty kite.

The Blade is disigned for that, but is it big enough to get me in

the air with ease?

Or can i better take the rage 6.0 for that do to it's size?

Hopefully someone knows the answer and/or have some expirience to share

with me.

Thanks allready and greets,

Sunsation.

As is usual for these type of questions, it depends on how heavy you are.

However, between those two kites, the Blade has more lift, regardless of a person's pie-count.

Sorry, i forgot, i am 75 kilogramms.

I live in-land so the wind is more gusty.

Greets.

Yeah, but aren't the Netherlsands flat? :D :D

Yep, given enough wind, either kite will get you in the air.

The blade more so.

the 6m rage will hang you for longer just because of the size difference. Tbh it would be better to compare the 4.9 blade with the 4.7 rage.....the blade is a lot more powerful, but in gusty conditions can have an element of death. A 6m rage would be very smooth, tends to handle gusts slightly better and the power is more progressive.

No, it won't!

You'll go higher and stay up longer with the 4.9. (and thats any of the versions of the 4.9 blade, even the markIII :) )

what's wrong with the mk3?

genuine question, im looking for a 4.9 at present and apart from the IV having the obvious difference of the adjustable bridle, which is the next best mk to go for? and what are the different characteristics of each?

cheers

Hi, jlmusic

I was just being a bit facetious there, dude.

I've owned a mark I, II and III Blade 4.9 and had quite a lot of time on the fourth version and out of them all, i was least keen on the third, but don't get me wrong the III is still a beast of kite and would give you plenty of smiles for your bucks.

To be honest, thinking back, the first version was probably the least best but it was the first ever four line i owned, so reckon i view it through rose tinted oakleys.:)

4.9 blade any day of the week, i've got one, lifty as hell and will keep you there with the right conditions, Rage 6, nice kite, will lift, but will also dump very badly at times, although the blade is a way more scary kite, it has nevr dumped me in a lift once, fantastic peice of kit!!!!

I have to argue for the Rages, the 'minimal lift' is a lie lol, I can go just as high with my 4.7 R as with a 4.9 BIV, its all about technique tbh.

However, on the subjects of 7m HAKA's. A couple of mates have them, they have a habit of folding up, turn very slowly but are lift MONSTERS. They also fly very fast, so good for speed runs on landboard :D (though if this is going to be your first kite, I wouldn't recommend it)

or lack of it. :D :D

Nah, seriously, I'll agree that a rage does not have, "minimal" lift, a sky-tiger or the old Q range of quadrafoils had minimal lift for a powerkite, but a rage does have loads less than a blade and in the same (and resonable amount of) wind, one should be going higher and longer with a 4.9 blade than a 6m rage.

don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that rages are ****.

In fact, they are a superb range of kites being stable, steady and the power is nicely progressive and of course they do have a certain amount of lift but all out jumping machines, they ain't.
