Morb Posted July 29, 2007 Author Report Posted July 29, 2007 If this is what happens when you flog stuff on flea bay maybe i should try it! yep, its my second guitar in as many months. Ive sold nothing of importance, apart from my car*,so theyve been 'free' in a 'sort of' kinda way. Do it, people will buy your rubbish. *note: Car money not really involved in guitar financing, before you even attempt to take the pee. and you know i'll pwn you anyway. Quote

yargaboy Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 Man I can't stand ES 355s. They just horrible looking. Shud have bought a tokai les paul or sg, they are beaut guitars and very cheap. I play a gibson les paul studio btw. What else you got then? Quote
Morb Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 Man I can't stand ES 355s. They just horrible looking. Shud have bought a tokai les paul or sg, they are beaut guitars and very cheap. I play a gibson les paul studio btw. What else you got then? Well as you ask, I have a 'Big Block' Fender Strat and a 'Burns' Shadow special edition, all going through a Fender Cyber Deluxe amp. And if id wanted a Les Paul or an SG, id have got one. Oh, and i dont do cheap. Quote
yargaboy Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Now burns I do like. If you don't do cheap then why did you get an epiphone? Oh and tokai aren't cheap, they are more expensive than epiphone but still cheaper than a gibson. Some of their models are stunning, like the love rock. It's like all the japanese copies of that time (70s/80s) you could get a guitar easily as good as a gibson or fender, sometimes better. Only you paid half the price. Look for manufactureres such as Greco, Orville, Tokai and Burny if your interested. Quote
Kiteboyza Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 so this is why the Golf had to go....Gibson uhmmmm....more a Fender man myself but would mind to fondle Lucille for a while.... Quote
Morb Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 Now burns I do like. If you don't do cheap then why did you get an epiphone? . Because the Gibson is 2 grand! I dont think £500 is too cheap for a 3rd guitar really. Unless youve got more money than sense. ..and check out the Epi John Lennon Casino's, or the John Lee Hooker versions, £2300 cheap. Epiphone are clearly rubbish then. Thats why the Beatles used them so much, and look what happened to them. Mirror - signal - manouvre. Quote
Zotty Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 Where's the colour coded buttons and the string switch? :D what like these mr W http://www.makezine.com/blog/315112798_e2757a08b2.jpg Quote
Zotty Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 admit you'd be green with envy lol.. naah twas a typical google search that threw those at me lol,, although i have got an old electric guitar (minus strings) lying around (my now left home eldest lads) that ive looked at thought "it could be done ya know".. having seen it can be done might make me take the plunge Quote

The guitars that the beatles used so much were Gretsch and Rickenbacker. There were only ever 5 epiphones in the band and 3 of those were McCartneys, sums it up really. Whereas the were 15+ rickenbackers used. Mirror - signal - manouvre - crash. Seriously though, check out the old jap copies, they are much better quality than the copies of today, Epi, Squier, Vintage etc. Quote
Morb Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 This could run and run. in fact it is. At no point did i claim that the Beatles used Epiphone exclusively. Do i need to start using disclaimers every time i post for those who think they know best? (it seems so.) Gibson Montana, the company's acoustic division, has replicated the three different versions of the J-160E acoustic/electric flat top guitar that Lennon bought in 1962. The instruments feature the original sunburst finish, a psychedelic paint finish that Lennon commissioned in 1967, and the 1969 version after he'd stripped the finish and drawn a picture of himself and Yoko. Lennon played his J-160E on the Beatles' first hit "Love Me Do" and it was by his side in the Amsterdam Hilton during his and Yoko's 'Bed-In' honeymoon in 1968. Gibson makes the trio of replica guitars in extremely limited numbers offers them only as a set. Lennon's original is on display at the Rock'N Roll Hall of Fame. Gibson Montana also produces the John Lennon J-160E Peace model, based on the 1969 version but without Lennon's drawings on the top. The J-160E features Gibson's round-shouldered body style, along with a pickups so that it can be played acoustically or electrically. One of the new Peace models is currently being considered for permanent display at the Amsterdam Hilton, where it will remain as a tribute to Lennon. Epiphone, part of the Gibson musical family, offers two versions of Lennon's Epiphone Casino electric model, the '1965' with original sunburst finish and the 'Revolution' with stripped finish and other modifications made by Lennon in 1968. Epiphone has just announced the availability of only 25 low-numbered pairs of the two Lennon Casinos. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the John Lennon Scholarship Fund to support music education. Quote
