kraftyone Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Thinking about having a go at making a kite (something to do when it's not windy/too windy/raining/hailing/snowing/locust swarms etc etc) Does anyone have a design for say a 3-4 meter foil? Or even an autocad file as i have access to that and a massive printer! Also, where's the bext place to get all the materials from? Quote
Strops Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 chalkie i would say for material http://www.kiteworks.co.uk/ some power kite plans here http://www.kitebuilder.com/plans/power.htm Quote

Isis Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Most of the files from the zeropresitege project are still online if you look hard enough... the main site seems to have dissapeared though Quote
shrimpo Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 loads on here http://www.kite-plans.com/ Made a couple of stackers and eliminator + Naswings... Shrimpo Quote
speed_freak Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 there are laods of plans availible, but the better performance ones (ie. decent) require some software to do the plotting work for you - foilmaker and surfplan. Surfplan is software for foils and LEIs, where as foilmaker is afaik solely for foils As it's your 1st foray into making, I suggest something easy - the NAsa is ideal - loads of straight stitching, and will produce enough grunt (just not top end). If you're intent upon making a foil, the Eliminator series is a good start, constant profile throughout the kite and regular panels so can be made form 1 sheet of ripstop with minimal cutting. http://fly.to/foilmaker is the only link I know of, and appears broken http://www.surfplan.com.au/sp/ Quote
