kite crazy Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 well my brother says that climbing harnesses are the way forward, havent tried one yet though. may sound dfat but make sure the straps are really tight, that way they shouldnt (well dont for me) ride up into my goolies... either that or really loose Quote
phantomgaz Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 what are you useing (what make), if you can and have the money get your self a dakine fusion you ill love it and sell you old one Quote
timmay Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 its all down to the size of the harness in my experience, go as small as you possibly can then crank the straps up as tight as possible Quote
mac007 Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 im selling my pro-limit cos i get on so much better with waists, but as with everything its always best to try other kit b4 u buy Quote

faster4_tec Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 haven't tried a climbing harness for kiting, but I would imagine that since they've been making em for hundreds of years they may fit a bit better. dangled from plenty of ledges on a climbing harness wiht no complaints. seat harness's however still ride up. I nearly lost a testicle today, got trapped right at the no turning back moment of an almighty jump, landed, safty, rolled around in the sand for about 10mins Quote
MadMan1520 Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 seat harness's however still ride up. I nearly lost a testicle today, got trapped right at the no turning back moment of an almighty jump, landed, safty, rolled around in the sand for about 10mins tell me about it, one of mine got trapped today then a gust hit and THAT fecking hurt, then i went to jump on my board and my harness snapped.. so ive ordered myself a Dakine Fusion:D Quote
Devoted1599968706 Posted May 24, 2007 Report Posted May 24, 2007 I say a seat - waist combo will do the trick. I like mine (Pat Love). Quote
Themmings Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 I use a mystic aviator seat harnes and it's great. At setup though I'll make sure bill and ben are positioned correctly before I crank up the straps. Not tried a climbing harness yet - but I'm not unhappy with my seat so in no rush to do so. My aviator doesn't ride up or feel uncomfortable during use. HTH Quote
spooky Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 DaKine Fusion, very comfortable and adjustable. Or a DaKine STorm, cut down version with less padding(still comfortable) so better in a buggy. 07 version now comes with a power belt which helps hold harness in place better. Multipoint adjustment of spreader is sot on as easy to adjust, easy to tighten, more so than the thread through types. Plus easy to put on and take off as you just un clip. Jon Quote

Jason If you're headed to wallop, The Highwaymen have a pretty good selection of pro limit, brunotti and dakine. Not seen what else they have in.. but there should be plenty to try out! Quote
minic Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 its all down to the size of the harness in my experience ....... and maybe the size of your cahonas!! I've got a Dakine Storm & find it very comfy and not too bulky - don't have any problems with things catching/getting squashed either. Best advice though is find a shop with a good selection and some sort of a rig so you can hook in and hang - it's the only way to really know if a harness will be a good fit. Quote
Maro Posted May 25, 2007 Report Posted May 25, 2007 Get to a shop where you can try out several back to back. I took the advise of others on what harness to get, then ended up buying another that fitted me better. Don't make the same mistake I did. I use a seat harness and I tighten up the leg straps real hard, then slacken them just a touch. I know then that they are secure and not loose, and my fellas aren't gettin a beating. Quote
