jofnosso Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Hi All, I'm out in Sydney for a month over Christmas and really wanted to get some kiting done. Trouble is I can't find any information on spots and conditions around there. I'd be really grateful if anyone could recommend any spots and also let me know what the conditions are usually like as I can only bring 1 kite. Is it possible to hire kiting gear out there. Cheers for any help. Quote

.Joel Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Hi Mate, http://www.extremekites.com.au/locations/ EDIT: Peter beat me to it! Wait a few days, the guys will be back from Mambo. The Entrance just north of Sydney an hour out is kiteboarding heaven, otherwise there's Dolls Point. NSWKBA also list a heap of locations, http://www.nswkba.com.au/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=53&Itemid=103 Regards, .Joel Quote
jofnosso Posted November 30, 2008 Author Report Posted November 30, 2008 Cheers fellas, I really appreciate it. I've heard of Dolls and have a few names for northern beaches as well. I've been kiting for 6 months so will be looking for more flat water spots to start with. Someone mentioned Fishermans and Newport. What are the typical kind of conditions you ride in out there. Back here I stay mainly on my 9m. I'm 65kgs so it's a pretty good all rounder. Quote
Dave Shepp Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 I'm in the process of finding out exactly what the rules are for kite boarders in regards to Sydney lakes and stuff. I live on Narrabeen beach and want to get some flat water work going in the lake on the other side of my house. Works in anything from NNE down to SSE depending on where you launch from on the lake. Surf side any where from NE-SE. You can go around the corner to Long Reef beach as well and that works on more of a southerly I'vegot the NSWKA map for the areahere and will post it in a sec Quote
Dave Shepp Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 :DHere you go mate:D:D As you can see there are a bunch of spots where it's not recommended and that's why I'm trying to find out what the legislation is Quote
jofnosso Posted December 4, 2008 Author Report Posted December 4, 2008 I'm not great in the surf so was looking at more flat water spots so I guess Dolls and around there is pretty good. I'll be staying at Kirrabilly (no idea how you spell that) but have transport so it shouldn't be a problem. Looking at the map Fishermans looks OK as well. I'd be interested to see how things are on the lakes. We have a lot of lakes back here which are great for jumping. I've also read a few things about having to be a member of the AKSO for riding out there. I'm a member of the IKO but I read somewhere that this won't be accepted on some beaches. Quote

Out near the entrance its too narrow and too busy with lots of hard stuff downwind. Please take my advice and don't do it. Ask yourself why there is no-one doing it there? The eastern shore of Botany Bay and over at Kurnell are excellent flat water spots, and are the only kiteable flat water spots in all of Sydney. Cya and Goodwinds Steve Quote
