Hey Guy's anybody know if you can go boarding on Warwick Racecourse?

 

Bro's wedding is up there on Saturday afternoon, however just noticed that the course is only just behind the Hotel, so got all morning to play and also Friday afternoon.

 

Let me know, or any other possible locations

there are no restrictions, unless it is a race day (about once a month, lol).

 

southerly is the cleanest direction, but most of the short grass patches (football fields etc..) run north-south, so anything works really apart from winds with North in them.

 

the other thing to watch out for is the long grass, they let it grow very long (knee/waist height) and then cut it short. so boarding can be impossible sometimes apart form on the football pitch (over in the far corner).

 

not been there since before the winter, so couldn't say what length the grass is now..

according to >>multimap it is exactly 30 mins and 23.3 miles.

 

you can turn up and fly (as long as there is not a race on), but it isn't that great. better for buggys because of the long grass. also it is covered in dog cr*p.

 

there is a big hill to the north and a golf course to the north of that. the driving range would be perfect if not for all the golf balls flying about the place

I think Jamie, that bit we played on, like a path was ok in the right wind but as you say, apart from the footy pitches I wouldnt travel from Hinkley to it. If staying rght close it'd be ok I guess.

Just got me thinking what are the regs on racecourses in general, who owns them to phone and ask? Are they privately owned or what? I know nothing lol.

we usually fly at wykin park on the outskirts of hinckley in the week and then try and get to a beach of kite festival every weekend, wykin is starting to get busy now so are just looking at other possibilities.

@jimbohuc. Well if you fly at Wykin fields the race course would be a non starter I feel. Its a huge area but like Loki says, the grass gets very long and the dog walkers....... there's fickin millions of em and the dog poop..... there's tons of it. I don't think there is a problem with access cos I think its common ground but your lil wheels wouldnt do very well I'm afraid.
