Ally Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 does anyone have an experience of this company? my sister is thinking about going to fuerta with them in april. anyone know if their tuition is good etc... cheers, Ally Quote
RedEddy Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 I wasnt that impressed with the tuition, set up and lack of equipment. I wudnt recommend it for a beginner, but i think an intermediate would benefit more. They are a very relaxed (a little too relaxed at times) bunch of people. I was just dissappointed by the lack of useable equipment (3 boards for 12 of us). PM if you want more info. Quote
Stupid Dave Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 ditto ill see if i can find a number for some private instructors we met out there they know there stuff and have there head screwed on. Quote
AphexTwin Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 Expect to learn up to board starts. Safety was not the best in the world, we were told to work in groups and look after each other! The beach had small rock formations either side that most of us ended up on. Dont expect the instructors to teach anyone in the water, they dont like getting wet! A girl who was struggling with us paid for personal lessons on the last day with a one on one tutor, after an hour she was doing board starts. Lee is a good teacher, just left feeling that I could have learnt a lot more. The kites were on short supply until the previous weeks were repaired. I left with mixed feelings, dissapointed that I had not learnt more but happy that I had a taster of this great sport. Quote
AphexTwin Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 This is the company that arranged one on one tuition with her http://www.krunk-surfing.com/en/ Quote
destroyer Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 If you do go with extreme you can barter with them, i went with apex twin last september, first off they wanted £750 i bartered them down to around £500...... simular views as above! Quote
elmoncork Posted January 11, 2007 Report Posted January 11, 2007 I guess I'm the exception but I had a great time. I was in the improver section though. People who were absolute begineers were dissappointed with the lack of one-on-one stuff alright. Ditto about Lee, superb bloke and great tutor Quote
xdavemarshallx Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 I guess I'm the exception but I had a great time. I was in the improver section though. People who were absolute begineers were dissappointed with the lack of one-on-one stuff alright. Ditto about Lee, superb bloke and great tutor I was in the improver group too, we got next to no tuition, mainly because there was little they could tell us. Both their "boats" were out of action, i-pods and air con in the jeeps? Well ours didn't even have a stereo!! All they were really that good for was using their kit and lifts to the beach. £700 was the stock price for a week in May, we got a late deal and paid about £500. Complained when we were back in the UK and was promised vouchers of my next holiday.......they never turned up....not thats it's any matter...I wouldn't have used them again anyway. Went back a month later independantly with my own kit. Cost about £350 including car hire, staying in exactly the same place (which I believe has now closed down?). Met our "instructor" from the time before (who was a genuinely nice guy but working for a crap company) who had left his job about a week after we left the first time. Personally, I wouldn't go near them again. But hey, thats just me. Quote
Schmool Posted January 12, 2007 Report Posted January 12, 2007 I learnt with Extreme holiday a couple of years ago.....it got me to the point of water starts but after that I didn't bother going back. As others have stated there wasn't enough kit really for the group which I agree with. I have to say though when I was there the instructors, Daz, Tam, Richie & Chris were really good. Daz was REALLY good. Last year I managed to convince a friend he wanted to kitesurf, this time we went to Ras Sudr with waveriders.......I wish I'd gone there to learn, the sea was lovely and warm, nice and flat. The instructors were brilliant along with the beach boys who covered all the rescue, launching and landing of kites. I'd recommend Ras as a first class place and waveriders are really good. The only down side was the transfer from Sharm to Ras, a little long but well worth the journey....Oh yeh, if you wanna do something else except kitesurf and sleep Ras is not the place to go! Check out waveriders website....it's worth it! Schmool Quote
