Brrm Brrm ......... having been tempted beyond what mortal man can resist by RiTchie and his Jato Nitro beast ......... I bought a Nitrage 5.2 Truggy on Saturday. :D

I spent yesterday afternoon trying to run it in between rain showers, and haven't completed it yet so can't open it up properly. Seems to be pretty nippy on 1/3 throttle and is getting noticably looser and quicker. I'm using a tin of 16% Nitro to break it in gently, when thats gone I'll get some more potent juice.

We need to meet up somewhere and have a "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" session!! ;) :D

Lets get together and get some carnage going!!! :p

I've found a few empty car parks near me and spent this evening finishing the running in process. On the 5th tank I did a few 5 second full throttle runs and started grinning like an idiot. Its only 16% fuel and running so rich that theres a trail of unburnt fuel from the exhaust BUT it bloody shifts for big 4x4 buggy. Looking forward to using up the current fuel and going onto the 25% stuff and lean the engine off a few notches.

The smell of nitro fuel takes me back to my childhood and watching the model airplane flyers at the school playing field.

Looks a nice buggy Nick - FINALLY it looks like Tamiya have pulled their finger out of their arses and made something worth owning!

Their old stuff, when I was into the subject, was, to put it bluntly, ****!

Standard non resin reinforced thermoplastic that just broke SO easily was their old trait and shockingly bad design.

What is the make of the engine in yours Nick? Is it an OS?

I was into it all when the Kyosho Turbo Inferno was the thing to own and I then moved on, at a £980 price tag, to the brand new Kyosho MP5 when it first arrived into the country somewhere back in the early 90's. I stuck with OS engines as you didn't get an engine with it at that price back then and had to purchase and fit your own, another £180! Then there was the tuned pipe, around 80 odd quid, starter box (which I part built myself, A steel electrical panel enclosure housing a Turbex 12v starter with the rubber start wheel poking through a slot in the top that was mounted on springs so when you pushed the engine flywheel down onto the wheel it engaged a switch inside to start the motor, an array of 12v high amps batteries and the all important high current press switch) the radio gear, I used JR back then but cannot remember what I paid for it, it wasn't cheap though. The good thing about surface model radio gear is it usually is only 2 channels and not quite so expensive as Ariel stuff, needing usually 4 channels or more. The steering servo, I have just remembered was £130 on it's own as it was an ultra high speed, very high power jobby and I remember it not only had the 3 standard thin leads coming out of it to connect to your receiver but also had a thick + and - lead that you connected straight to your high power battery pack because it would draw far too much current, while operating, for the standard leads to cope with. I also had an ultra high speed servo on the throttle/brake set up too.

I got made redundant back then from a job I was in and got £1800 redundancy money but luckily fell into another job straight away - bet you can't guess what I spent it on  :)

I have got to say, I would LOVE one of them Traxxas BIG jobby's - their delectable

Hope you and Vic are OK :)

Found this and I feel a new hobbie coming , Any way how is everyone?

Still got Nick's old parastorm and my gin's, not flown them for ages so I may be selling all my kite gear to fund said new hobbie . Will have to pop round Nick's and Vic's and see new toy.

Looks like a change of sport for all the nutters will have to find a geeky RC forum

Pilgrim Great news about Vanessa tell her to keep up the good work:)

Nick Chemo is going to be ongoing for quite some time talking to the consultant last week when the current regime stops working she has some other things to try so looks like my "B&B" at PDH will be ongoing for some time yet . Still if it keeps doing its stuff the thats the main thing . Still looking for a 911 prob either an older 3.2 SC or a slightly newer 964 or 993 will have to see what comes up. Always fancied a 911 so I guess I'll get one at some point.

Let us know when the RC'ers are out to play and we'll have a Mget together will be fun if we are all on the same channel:D

Seeing as you are online RiTchie ................. Jay has enquired about suitable tyre but hasn't had a call back yet. The new gearbox casing isn't in yet either.

Jim ............... the Nitrage has been a departure from their usual **** and the guy at Jay RC said that most of Tamiya's other stuff is to be avoided. The engine is badged as a Tamiya FX 5.2, not sure if Tamiya actually make it ...... most likely made by another company. I particularly like it as everything is VERY chunky on it and looks like it will take a few knocks. The fact that the main components are modular and on their own sub-frames makes working on the various bits very easy.

Been advised to use 20% fuel at the moment as the Truck is so new.

I think everything is alot cheaper and simpler now and more accessible.

It could be a fun new direction for us all to get together again and have some fun! :D

Anyone ever seen these nitro bikes??

Now THAT is seriously cool.

Want one...

Get back to work you slacker!! ;) :D

Saw a REALLY good picture of you looking very dashing at the weekend, plenty of soft focus on it. Shame your little bro hasn't had time to post it on here so others can share in the experience. :D

Found some nice ramps for the Nitro truck near my house last night, and managed to bring the Truck home in 1 piece. I managed to run into a steel lamp-post at 20mph+ and the Truck carried on without any damage. My neighbour walked past on his way home from work and spent the next hour with me having a play. They really are big-boy toys and blokes seem rather instantly attracted to them. :p I like the fact you can roll them and the engine carries on running without a prob. Going out again after work and finish off my 1st 1/2 gallon of fuel.

Raced a Hyper 7 last night:cool:

I take it you had a good time last night then??? :D

The Hyper 7's are for girls Carl, you need an Xray XT8 and show them what real performance is! ;) If you want insane speed but absolutely no control go the RiTchie route and get a Traxxas Jato 3.3 (you need deep pockets for constant repairs though).

Weaponx that wallop vid makes me feel all nostalgic, seems a long time ago.:(

If anyone wants to spank their Nitro beast on some nice jumps there's a very nice spot 5 mins from house that always quiet and available. :)

PS .............. Jetman is doing his thing tomorrow http://jetmanlive.com/event

nick, i had a mediocrity of control on it tother day, then one of the lads from work drive it under a pallet for me...

broke the steering link arms :(

so going to order all the bits from wheelspin... get back up and running proper...

i might even put in the stiffer sway bars too,,,

I can almost feel the testosterone building up in here.

My money is on Smog to win this one.

Must admit I am starting to miss the addrenalin.

I enjoy golf but am on the lookout for something A bit more exciting.
