Hi -

This has just been published on the Irish Power Kite Association website. Hats off to Phil Cameron for his openness in sharing this with us.

I have recieved a letter from the PKSF stating that they will be terminating the federation on the 31/3/07. They state that all current individual memberships will be valid until they expire but that no new ones will be processed after that date. Also as the PKSF provides our event insurance this will terminate as well, we are clarifying the date of this withdrawal. Myself and the rest of the committee understand the serious implictions of this development and are exploring all avenues to ensure that we have continued insurance cover and can keep hosting events. I thought it best you should all know about this situation, I will keep you informed of any developments.

Has anyone else heard about this? There are plenty of local clubs all across the UK who get their third-party and event insurance via PKSF, so the demise of the body is a cause for concern.

mmm interesting and worrying?

I know the BKSA stoped using PKSF insurance earlier in the year which ment those who were say BBC members had to buy full BKSA membership as well, rather than just an up grade?

Anyone know anything more substancial??? :(

I'd say nothign to worry about the PKSF were an 'umbrella' group of different clubs, as mentioned the BKSA left the group earlier. It helped have one 'association' with a large membership - useful to class total figures etc.

BPKA members can always contact the forums for clarification as to what it means, but in reality i'd say its nothing.
