martin Posted January 24, 2009 Report Posted January 24, 2009 Started off with a low wind cross shore at EW today but it picked up about 4pm & swung round enough to get some good speed runs in. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s138/439FOOTY/IMG0083A-1.jpg

martin Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Martin, have you got near the 50 mph barrier yet? Nope, still on 42. Think i need a V strong wind & a small kite as my blades don't seem to fly far enough in the window. Anyone about thurday for a wee session? Somewhere with good drainage hopefully.... I'm off Thursday, where we going? Hey martin what about this on your doorstep..... seems new to me??????? http://www.southamptonkitesurfing.com/ I've never seen kite surfers there, this is new. Not the ideal location i think. Who's the kiter who also sails a bit, is it Goose or something. I thought he was a member of the Weston Sailing Club? Maybe he's started a kitesurfing school?

Martin, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to get to 50mph, with a large enough hard beach, on barrows with a 25mph wind and a 3 - 4m kite. I have reached it with a 2.1m LD in baracuda on bigfoots at the ho with a twisting buggy. But i had a day at Pendine @ 43-44mph in the phoon with a 3.4m and 4m yaks, but i wasn't working them. The worst is when I know a weekend in Pembrey in the phoon, there was 5 or 6 of us all the way down teh beach together, only to see their GPS's ready 47-48 mph! Places to hit the 50 mark - ho IF you have bigfoot lites or bigfoots. As the big front turf will slow you down on the soft stuff. Or Pembrey, on barrows When ever it's a good day for it, your more than welcome to use one of the RM+'s, i think they are fast enough for it! As it's my aim this year to get it officially recorded on gps!
g0nz01599968659 Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Evening... Err Goose is either at uni or in Sweden/Norway with his GF:) which is why he's not kiting round here much... He's on FB as Tim Edmonds if u want to add him. so I guess its not him teaching at weston.... I've kitesurfed Weston before & its ok but a lil gusty when its windy enuf to kite surf, that said it's fine on a sle with good depower. Probably ok in a SE'ly wen its going straight up Southampton Water. Its nice & shallow so would be ok to learn at low tide, when you can get far enuf away from the road...........

Oh c'mon chaps your all smart and no one got it??? 'wee' - 'drainage' oh boy... Anyhoo, whats the tide info for EW? I can pick you up on route to wherever if you wanna head east.... Or we can meet at Hudson's if the wind is right (oh and it's not raining of course)

This one is literally next door to me. I saw a couple of kite sufers out there the other week but thought nothing off it. Didnt reallise they'd set up a school. In good winds it cant be quite busy with the sailing club, but once their out in the estuary their is a fair bit of space for setting up.
martin Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 AV, i'm thinking of laying my hands on some motorcycle wheels rather than going down the BF route. Can you get hold of some cheap T118?? Tides are no good for witterings this week, we'll have to watch the weather & make a decision.

Whe would you use them? personally I don't see the point unless racing at pembrey/pendine/hoy (on a hrd day) Or frequently using those beach's. As the tyre' you have are much better on grass, as motorbike tyre's will be a nightmare on grass
martin Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Turf for PS & Mcycle/discs for witterings where it can be quite wet sometimes. These are the 2 main places i buggy. they'd be good for The Ho as well.

Nice and low as it'll prob flip in the soft stuff ;-)
martin Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 The sand was hard my last 2 visits at the town end (& wet). + there were buggies on discs in the PKA races.
avspider Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 The sand was hard my last 2 visits at the town end (& wet). + there were buggies on discs in the PKA races. Yes they use the discs at the race as they only really use the hard wet end
T595 Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 I know where you can get some wheelchair wheels , high at the back & low at the front, drag racer style. Oooo you guys'll look so mean

Oooo you guys'll look so mean I think, you being OLDER and falling over often. Then I think we need to order one for you first? LOL:p
martin Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 I've seen the pic of the board with mobility scooter tyres on it. LOL
avspider Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 So T595, is 2009 the year where you learn to jump?
martin Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Where to tomorrow then T118? Not really good enough for WS unless it swings slightly to a Southerly. PS might be good but not been there for a while & i imagine it's going to be water looged. We could be naughty & go to SS Common?
