MTC Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 Hi Haven't been to Bran for some time now - (baby boy, family stuff, etc etc..) but was wondering what the current siuation is for buggying there? I see from Mr Sylenz's thread that the hardcore chaps are still doing their thing. Is it OK to just turn up or do you have to be "in the club" (!?!!) (I do have current Buggy Club insurance) Yours, optimistically ............. Quote
Mike R Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 Branny is now heavilly restricted to Zero4bc members only please read http://community.flexifoil.com/showthread.php?t=96006 However I was down at Brancaster last week and on more than one occassion I saw people flying outside the Traction Zone . I approached one young lad in what appeared to be a brand new buggy with a 4m Flexi Rage kite , who was buggying outside the Traction Zone and asked him if he knew the regulations at Branny he said (In a rather posh voice) "I read the notice at the entrance , thought Sod It I'm only hear for the week and came on anyway . I doubt I'll be back as I'm going kitesurfing in France next week " I said that his type of attitude was why there were so many restrictions in place and that by doing what he had just done there would likely be a complete ban by the time he wanted to fly at Branny again. to Which he said "F off and buggied away " I flew static a couple of nights at Branny Last Week (As I'm not a zero4bc member its Static only for me) And the traction area was deserted , its such a shame that the floating membership has been scrapped as what harm would it of done if I had taken my buggy and kited in the traction area . Got to admit I was sorely tempted to break the rules and get the buggy out and just fly until someone stopped me . BUT I DIDNT . Sorry to rant on but the current situation at Branny really P**ses me off . Quote

Mark Everitt Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 Hey Thanks for having a work the kid Mike... Unfortunately it's people with that opinion that will get the site permanently banned and/or rule out any expansion decisions for the club. I know the situation is not good for everyone but it's what we have to live by to keep the site at least partially open. Cheers again Mark Zero4.bc Quote

Cheers again Mark Zero4.bc No probs will always have a word if people are flying outside the traction area . This cheeky little git buggied off from near the traction zone right up to the golf club house and casually packed his kite and left the beach . Was hoping to have got down to see the legit users over the last couple of weekends but Wife ,kids and weather combined to scupper those plans . Maybe next time . Mike R Quote
beardyjim Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 I hate to add in but I was on the water there the other weekend and also saw one person buggy off down to the golf club but the one I was was with a blue sting rather than a rage. It is sooo frustrating to know that I have to leave the buggy at home yet others flout the ban. Had a good day on the water though. Any chance on talking the powers that be to lift restirctions in winter or do birds nest all year round Quote
MTC Posted September 4, 2006 Author Report Posted September 4, 2006 Thanks for the replies chaps. At least I know what the crack is....... although it is frustrating that there must be many non members like me who are unable to use the beach for buggying (when we were always careful to use 'the zone' previously) then someone comes along & rides outside the zone and risks the very limited access that does exist! Maybe I'll have to try Old Hunstanton sometime .............. are conditions any good there? Quote

If you do go to Old Hunstanton can you make sure you stay to the far right hand side of the beach as said by Troy. There is no hard and fast rules but if we all stay over this side and away from the general public then access should continue. Thanks BIG Quote

Any chance on talking the powers that be to lift restirctions in winter or do birds nest all year round Thats the problem, Birds nest all year and i belive mainly in winter! Summer is then the people issue etc.... This is the final year of monitoring for when they will have to give a verdict. Again thanks to those who do inform people. All of the guys want the beach opened up so you can have your mates come up and buggy and enjoy it etc, but the powers that be (5 Authorites) that we are bateling are not to worried. This is north norfolk so there is alot of money and as you can see they would rather protect this coming to the area. There alot of bird watchers that bring in a vast amount of income to the area which they do not want to loose! This i agree with and it would be a great shame to loose the trade to the area. It takes time and working with the authorites to come to a more sutiable option. This weekend i went to hunny and that was fine and was surprised how hard it was! Take it easy Craig Quote
