Jacob Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 Hi, I'm new to the forum, certainly glad I found it makes for some great reading. Anyway I was just after a bit of advice I am going to purchase a Blade IV next week (after Stings and Rages (2.4 and 3.5's) I need something with a bit more kick;) ) but I cant decide between the 4.9 or 6.5. I weigh 14st so I'm not small and will use it primarily for static flying, jumping & skudding etc. Eventually I will use it for landboarding (after learning with a smaller kite!!!) My major concern is that the 6.5 will be to slow to turn through the air and whilst good for jumping may not suit traction activities. Does anyone who has flown both see a marked difference in turn speed between the two and are they both good for lanboarding? And yes I know, start in v.slow winds and build up!! Now Petrol or Midnight? hmmmmmm Quote
Bertie Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 cant help with the main question, but you are confused wiht the colours obviously. must be RASTA! Quote
animal_69 Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 deffo go for the 6.5 matey, in terms of performance it flys like my BII 4.9 doesn't feel much more powerful initially, but i think thats down to the 'smoothness' they dialled into this new incarnation. I use mine for landboarding with the flexi extreme bar..an its a wicked combination IMO, turns plenty fast enough for boarding, fast enough for static flying too, even on the bar. Can get higher with the bar & harness than i could with just the handles. As for colour, id say Midnight is the best..i bought Petrol, but regret it now..lol Quote
mikeymustard Posted August 18, 2006 Report Posted August 18, 2006 The 6.5 is bound to be slower, but that's offset by floatier jumps. The useable wind range of the 6.5 will be slightly more limited tho. I think really it's down to your own personal preference (as will be attested by everyone on this forum having theirs), is there anywhere near to you that you cd demo them? As to colour - well i notice you've not included rasta so you must be a grown up [lol], if the mkIII's are anything to go by the darker colours faded less over time and more importantly now seem to fetch more 2nd hand. Anyway, wot are you, a girl? (never had the luxury of choosing my own colours due to being a tightwad and only buying old kites, so maybe a wee bit jealous there) Quote
Jacob Posted August 19, 2006 Author Report Posted August 19, 2006 Cheers for the advice. Well I couldn't wait and am now the proud owner of a Blade IV 6.5 in Petrol. Problem is I cant flyit until later next week so the wind better be good then. The suspense is killing me. This kite looks awsome even lying on the floor!! Quote
