So for a beginner, who isnt intrested in freestyle, just cruising what would people suggest (i know you wont mark it down to one kite but a few differents ones too look at would be useful)

This is for a 48 year old man with a rather battered body!

more than welcome to join us in aberdovey dude, alot of people from worcester/midlands make the journey there and will b a perfect plac for you to get your hands on a few kites. im sure most guys will let you try thm out. dont know how experienced you are but if your lookingfor lessons or demo then shem@kitesurfwales is a good guy to speak to, he has a whole range of gear to play with. and by the way i dont have any ties with him hes just the local kitesurf instructor in dovey who everyone gets to know and hes a sound guy.

If your just interested in pottering about then you will probably get away with a cheap second hand medium aspect c kite. But if you want the best safety and have the cash then a bow kite is the way forward. They give quite a bug confidence booster aswell when your learning

As a learner and wanting the safety aspect of the Bow style kite, i would say from what i have tested you would do well with an Instinct. Very easy to fly, no pullies, med bar pressure, very stable, can let go of bar with out it falling to quick, a very good kite that will be difficult to invert.

IMO Bows are still quite technical to fly, been sensative to steering input, you cant yank the bar around like a C kite. Hybrids look the way forward for me.

If your just going out in steady winds, then a good med AR C will do fine, and save a lot of £££.

Fly an Instinct by choice, not connected any other way.

I ride a Takoon Nova 1 with an NTS conversion, tried the Nova 2 and it didn't feel much different to mine since its been converted. Only thing I wouldn't mind trying is the SS Link Hybrid, but unless its a lot better, right now I can't see any reason for changing. The Nova 1 is still an excellent safe kite, and with the NTS upgrade works even better.

I'd say Waroof because its so easy on the arms and body that I have extended my session by about 30 percent. Dont feel half as torn after a 5 hr than with my old C's...

Wait a while. All the bows (with the exception of the nova2) are first gen. in a few months all the 2nd generation bows will be coming out all with improvements on the originals, if your looking to buy very soon then i would go for the Takoon - nova2, its probably the most technically advance one out there.

no doubting the nova is a new animal worthy of purchase

its all good news but ur wrong 2nd generation bows /sles are established and within weeks the 3rd gen will be doing the demos - the roo pro is already gonna take some beating - as well as the knocking from rivals and wanna be pimps

try em all if u got $$$ buy them all but 4 most people like me buy a kite use it a year and then you can quantify about products after a good hard years abuse

its all gud news down the beach

Long time no hear muppet! I demoed a nova2 back to back with a sonic last week, cant imagine where they got the idea for it from!!!!!! I think for a beginer/improover the Instinct is ideal, still a bit more technical than a c to fly, but loads a de power. The shockwave with the 1:1 bar mod is also worth considering. Personally Ill be waiting out for the sonic2.
