There has been a ban placed on our local flying site in Hinckley.

Please can we have any advice on how we can talkle the council on lifting this. They will accept static flying but no wheels. In total there is around 30 people who use this site who are all of a good standard and many have 1-2 lots of insurance. If this site goes it could mean the end of our hobby as space in the midlands is limited.

Your urgent help is required

im a local at this site and it really sucks considering the most dangerous thing on the site is not us but chavs on motorbikes, any adivice would be really welcome, also our area has a really dodgy council so they could be hard to tackle :(

Well im sure the Chavs on motorbikes arent allowed either, I suggest you take a note from their book. Just get a good stuff sack so you can pack up and P**s off fast.

Form a club. Write reasonable guidelines. Approach council in a professional manner highlighting the responsible side of kiting, the family friendly side and that you all carry insurance. I'm sure others will give you more advice.

Good luck

Sympathy!

My Brother lives on the estate next to the field and when I come up I get out to the park to jump on my board. How sad, I guess its all about dog walkers complaining and risk of someone being sued

To be honest Dave, we get on well with most of the dog walkers, they have said that they would rather us use the field than the idiots on moterbikes.

Good luck, and read the guidelines carefully and use it with appropriate disgression.

Sorry Monkey Boy about the ban. Your best bet is to get a group of your responsible members and approach the council.

See if you can arrange a meeting with your local councillor(s) and offer to perform a risk assessment and set rules for local flyers i.e. insurance, exclusion zones around paths, specific times or when you can and won't fly. At all times don't get heated he who argues looses the arguement.

P.S. Sorry Sturmovick but that Defra items refers to Coastal area management this guy lives in de Midlands. Though I suppose theres got to be an equivalent for inland management somewhere go to it boy.

Good News !!!!!

The ban is not going to be inforced. A very productive meeting was held with the council and a few new guild lines have to be inforced and a little work to be done but the BAN HAS BEEN LIFTED !!!!!!!!

Good news, well done for using common sense and talking it through ! We know from experience in Oxfordshire that it only takes one or two to break a ban no-matter how temporary and it becomes permanent !
