Just got back from a week in Cornwall, amazin beaches, shame that wherever I was there was very little wind. Enjoyed an 8.5 session at perranporth and Marazion and tried a bit of KS at Marazion with 8.5 and 16v1 unfortunately not quite enough wind.

Looked at SKypark and was well impressed but noone was there when I called and it was to late in the day to call anyone out.

Next time there will be wind and the Sky park will be done (as will Watergate and Gwithian). The kickers central mound and rail looked v. Sweet. As for the huge kicker do you have to land that in the next field or is that a drop in for light wind days??

Grass sucks compaired to sand, mainly cos grass is inland SO technicly it double sucks. I think you'll agree that is very sucky indeed. oh and the wind on the beach is nice and smooth and you can trust what your kites going to do (like not catch a crazy gust and try to murder you)

not all grass sites have messy wind...had a little trouble following you there bro. also, i know plenty of guys who rip inland, so whats up?

and have you ever heard of squalls?

I like both worlds grass and sand. I like a good inland site due to no tides and you can fly whenever their is wind. Theres pros and cons with both as everything in life. I seem to jump easier on grass when it's low wind but when it rains it ends up being like an ice rink.

@Bushflyer..... where in Cornwall are you?

dazza...im in the newquay area mate. im currently 'handlin my businizz' but ill be about from 6th august. just look for the brown guy wandering about aimlessly, i have no kite! (yet)

NO!!!! you can't move to Cornwall with no kite dude!! It's a requirement to get into the county:D. You be on watergate or Gwithian then (or both depending on wind?).

If you want tide times my misses keeps a site up to date with them if anyone wants the link just give us a PM... or check the Lengendery Gwithian flyers (as said in PK :D) link

sorry bushflyer. my rambling post was the combination of work sun and a couple of cold ones. i just read it back to myself and it does sound a bit crazy.

still, im sure there is some nice grass sites, i just havent been to many. i do think that sand is nicer to ride on. ive not heard of "squalls", is that a place or a person?

is there anything you really need to know about flying gwithian and perranporth? ive got a trip planned in a while, will go cornwall or gower depending on wind directions... any bans restrictions etc i should know about. also, how safe is it to leave kite gear in car/tent around perranporth and the gwithian out of interest? as thats all we'll have

get the new powerkite mag mate, got an article about kiting in cornwall there. gives you enough info to start with!

as for theft....how long is a peice of string? use common sense - there are a lot of 'transients' down this time of year looking for easy pickings from gullible tourists

use common sense, should be fine.

3 words - Gwithian totally rocks !! I can't understand people going to watergate bay personally - never had a good session there myself. Ripples and big holes all over the place. Gwithian is 2-3 miles of flat out sand for board or buggy. Going to be down there for the annual pilgrimage for 2 weeks from August bank holiday - hope to see some of you there.
