Tyler Durden Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 I am thinking about making a simple plywood replica of the new Spleene Door59 so I have managed to create a template for cutting. If you want it, here it is. Click the link for the full size version measuring the full 159cm x 42cm. http://www.kitegallery.net/d/78343-1/Spleen+Door59+-+Full+Size+_+Outline.jpg Quote
tomdaniels Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 How are we supposed to print it off? Quote
Morgan Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 he works in a paper shop thingy im sure he has an A0 printer around Quote
tomdaniels Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 Ah makes sense...thats a pretty cool template Quote
Tyler Durden Posted June 26, 2006 Author Report Posted June 26, 2006 Yeah, either go to your local poster printers or print it on lots of A4s and stick them together. Just put it up here for anyone that might find it useful. I may be able to send out black and white copies of it for around £15. Quote
Bertie Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 isnt that against copyright somehow? edit: i mean selling black and white pictures of it? if not, dont mind me Quote
Tyler Durden Posted June 26, 2006 Author Report Posted June 26, 2006 Not sure, if it is forget that idea, print them off yourself! Quote
hulkiebear Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Hi Tyler, Slightly off topic, I saw a picture of a Wipika Bow on your site. Do you have any info on it? Where did you get the pic from? Cheers Lee. Quote
Tyler Durden Posted June 27, 2006 Author Report Posted June 27, 2006 Can't remember where the pic came from, and the kite, AFAIK, was a prototype bow using 2 skins one above and one below the struts, but it will not be being made. Quote
A.junkie Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Black & white copies for HOW MUCH..............jeez TD Quote
Tyler Durden Posted June 27, 2006 Author Report Posted June 27, 2006 Black & white copies for HOW MUCH..............jeez TD Hi Mark, Yeah I know it seems expensive but it is a very expensive and high quality poster machine. There may well be a cheaper and more suitable way of printing a template at that size, but it isn't available from my shop. I guess I could print one off then get copies done on a plan printer, like the architects use. That would probably be cheaper. Quote
JohnDave Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Can you not find a large piece of corrugated cardboard and cut it out to size? You could draw on the footstraps and fins too. Quote
Tyler Durden Posted June 27, 2006 Author Report Posted June 27, 2006 Can you not find a large piece of corrugated cardboard and cut it out to size? You could draw on the footstraps and fins too. :D:p...................... (never did get round to finishing that one!) Quote
JohnDave Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 What's the difference with this one then? Quote
Tyler Durden Posted June 27, 2006 Author Report Posted June 27, 2006 What's the difference with this one then? It's a slightly different shape! Quote
carlos_climber Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 You don't need the full template - just one corner - if building a ply board draw a big cross in the middle then flip the corner template round ......voila symetrical board - make it out of hardboard and it will last ages and be easy to store. Quote
Tyler Durden Posted June 27, 2006 Author Report Posted June 27, 2006 make it out of hardboard So do I ask for hardboard at the timber yard? Quote
eeyore Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 TD: Hello TY: Hello TD: I'd like some hardboard TY: ok, what size? etc etc (sorry had to do it) Quote
Tyler Durden Posted June 27, 2006 Author Report Posted June 27, 2006 So hardboard is better than Plywood for a DIY board? I only thought of plywood because of the other DIY board threads mention it. Also what thickness would be right? Quote
carlos_climber Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Doh!! - hardboard for the template....marine ply for the board Quote
Tyler Durden Posted June 27, 2006 Author Report Posted June 27, 2006 Doh!! - hardboard for the template....marine ply for the board LMAO, right gotcha! What thickness? Quote
mick knox Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 I'm thinking of making a new board, can you tell me whats the difference between marine ply and normal ply. Quote
daZZa-S Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 I'm thinking of making a new board, can you tell me whats the difference between marine ply and normal ply. Marine ply is less likely to bow, warp and the glue sperate from the layers when it gets wet. Quote
damesb Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 LMAO, right gotcha! What thickness? the thin stuff - It'll be easier to fit in the printer Quote
mick knox Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Marine ply is less likely to bow, warp and the glue sperate from the layers when it gets wet. Can you get this from a general builders yard or will I have to pick some up from a boat yard. Quote
