Spudley Posted March 19, 2007 Author Report Posted March 19, 2007 Hey paul, good news my brother is getting me that Bang Pimp board for my B'day prezi and also im getting a 9m flexi fusion with the money i got so i should be set to get on the water. Can't wait :-), looking forward to the trip in april. Jez Cool, looks like i might have to drive next time we go to poole. Think were going to need my trailer to get four of us and all the kit down there!!!
Spudley Posted March 19, 2007 Author Report Posted March 19, 2007 I ache as well Dave, Noo Noo, let me know how you get on with your repair as i may let them repair my strut if reasonable.
Noo Noo Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 Hi guys. Yesterday was a bit blurred. Feeling it big time. Pushed myself but hey that was fun. Having had a bug, then a couple of bottles that evening I was completely wrecked on Sunday. Not much sleep that night for some stupid reason didn't help either. need to go more and more now. Always left with that feeling of "why didn't i try that?" Gutted about the kite but we'll see what the repair man says. waiting for the call. What's going on here at one point i thought there was just a couple of us in the area. All of a sudden I need a bigger car. Happy days more the merrier (did I spell that right?) Cable park could be fun but I think the downwinder is personally more attractive. Spud if you're happy to pull the strut bladder and have a look at the problem I've got some bladder repair stuff if its a straight forward patch. may need to get the iron out. Hmmmm Fusions. Toys Hmmmmm
Just Wanna Kite Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 To be honest dave i don't know :-) i just saw it for a good price and thought it would be a change, going with a 9m so i've got two kites for different winds. Also i thought if i want to get on the water more it would be better to learn with an inflateable. But the main reason is i've just had a B'day and i've got some extra money for more toys lol :-).
Noo Noo Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 As good a place to start as any I'd say Jez. It'll be a hell of a lot quicker than what you're used to at the moment though. Fun Fun Fun. A bit early I know but weekend forecast looks rubbish. Still waiting for the repair man to call.
jamie06 Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 As good a place to start as any I'd say Jez. It'll be a hell of a lot quicker than what you're used to at the moment though. Fun Fun Fun. A bit early I know but weekend forecast looks rubbish. Still waiting for the repair man to call. Sounds like you three had a good day at poole. But what happened to your kite colin?? jamie
DjMoz Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 I am sure it will be a top kite - look forward to flying it!! Will be a bit of crossover with the G211. NN - could you keep an eye out for a V2 10m. I want a change, not that I ever fly the 9m. Thinking of selling my 16m again and clearing all my stuff out.
Noo Noo Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 No ones fault but my own. A nick in the fabric that developed into a hole big enough for you to use the leading edge as a sleeping bag. Stupid In future any damage get it sorted right away. I doubt DM will ever go near an inflatable again :p but I'll force him back out when I get the kite sorted - he needs to see the other side. Damn kite is SOOOOO powerful you just need to get it moving and keep the right amount of line tension. Tricky but fun Was a cracking day though but I must try harder next time to push my limits and try different things. I spent a lot of time exploring the harbour on Saturday and boy did I see a lot of it. Amazing whats out in the shipping channel.

Yes I agree there will be some overlap between the 11m G2 and 9m fusion but at least you can figure out your preferences and go from there. Here we go again says he who's gone through enough kites to build a hot air baloon. What's the plan now? V2 10m obviously. Thinking of anything else? I know of a V1 on ebay but I'll carry on looking. Just spoke to the repair man. It can be fixed :D :p. Dont know how much yet I'll find out Thursday (nervous)
DjMoz Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Glad that it can be fixed - although they usually can be, hope its not too much. Not had many kites myself, Arcs, the Caution 16 & 12Answer, And a flysurfer. If I go LEI it will be C shaped no doubt. Until I fly +60% on water though I am not considering it.
Noo Noo Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Yeah I admire your restaint and the fact you know what you want and like and stick to it no matter what. I have none. Anyhow I've had a quick look about. No joy. 10m V2 will be very hard to find as those that buy them seem to want them and therefore keep them. might need to be lucky. Turbulence (http://www.ukkiting.com) have a 10m for sale in heir shop. V1 I think. Considered a new one? I can see what's about in tha area too.
Just Wanna Kite Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Yeah the fuison should be good fun but i have a question, at the moment i can't afford another bar so do u think i could use my guerilla 2 bar wothout the 5th line? The guy im buying it off said i would ok but not ideal, but better then nothing. Cheers
Just Wanna Kite Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 For the future what would you say the best bar would be because i thought the Axis bar is the one the fusion but the guy who is selling the kite said yeah it is but its really bad the safety release goes on its own and it wears out the line that runs though the middle really quickly. Do you guys have any Suggestions what would be good. thanks
rasga Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Hey Hey, Remember me, lol - was down in basingstoke at the weekend, popped up for a look sunday round 5 but didnt see much action - had a walk up and a nice breeze but no kit - plus my car had a slow puncture and i wanted to make sure i got home! Seems like more people appearing which is always good, will have to get boarding there again sometime when down. Off to prague for 2 weeks on sat with work
gigglefairy Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Hi kate, the best spot is probably crabtree. works best in e-s-or w winds, from the m3 jct6 turn left at the main roundabout, follow signs to black dam ponds(1st turn on the left) park in the ponds car park, walk under the subway and follow path bearing left. as the path heads up the hill you will see the field, ideally the wind blows up the hill,if it is then go at least halfway up the hill to avoid wind shadow from the trees at the bottom!! also be aware of the picnic tables at the top of the hill if boarding/buggying:eek: hope that helps you gigglefairy:) Thank you! maybe see you some time if can persuade other half out... :D giggle. x

DJ - Wanting a 10m V2 to now then. Dont like the LEI that much then! Thought anymore about getting a new harness?? Jamie
DjMoz Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Neil - Glad to hear you are still around, hope the job is going well, sounds like it with Prague visits. Too much on Sunday I thought with a lot of gusts and high winds, also my legs were knackered from Saturday Kitsurfing. Jamie - Was checking out some harnesses on Saturday but they didnt have the sizes I wanted, will definately be getting one so next time I see you try mine for size to make sure it fits well, then its all yours. JWK - Kite should work as a four line kite with the PL bar but you may need to play around with leader lines and check the sheeting range as PL kites generally had a much larger range than LEIs, easily resolved well enough to fly the kite. I understand that the cleatable fith line gives a lot more performance, check out the new Flexi Axis2 bar. NN is the one for playing with kites though, my modifications do not go further than getting a kite to fly and after that I lose interest. DM
Noo Noo Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Que monster post This is great lots of people about now. Just thought it was us three lonely muskateers at one point. Good news. Hey Hey, Remember me, lol - was down in basingstoke at the weekend, popped up for a look sunday round 5 but didnt see much action - had a walk up and a nice breeze but no kit - plus my car had a slow puncture and i wanted to make sure i got home! Seems like more people appearing which is always good, will have to get boarding there again sometime when down. Off to prague for 2 weeks on sat with work Nah dont have a clue who you are. I remember some Kermit frog bloke who left for glories further a field. Only joking good to hear things are going well Neil. catch up soon Thank you! maybe see you some time if can persuade other half out... :D giggle. x Yeah. Hope to see you soon. Crabtree gets a fair amount of undeserved stick sometimes. It aint the best but it aint bad either. And we dont bite. Not good colin. Lets just hope its not too expensive!! DJ - Wanting a 10m V2 to now then. Dont like the LEI that much then! Thought anymore about getting a new harness?? Jamie I know. Still gutted but I'll get it sorted. Cant go missing days like that because of a bit of torn fabric. As far as the 10m V2 goes. DM really likes the new Venoms and an upgrade makes a fair bit of sense. Good kites. I'd even consider the 10m myself to be honest but I'm sold on Bows / SLE's. The marketinbg machine has got me again Jamie - Was checking out some harnesses on Saturday but they didnt have the sizes I wanted, will definately be getting one so next time I see you try mine for size to make sure it fits well, then its all yours. NN is the one for playing with kites though, my modifications do not go further than getting a kite to fly and after that I lose interest. DM yeah that was fun trying harnesses in the shop. Was considering one myself but I've got another bill now. Grrrr. Yep I'm forever tinkering. I shouldn't but I do. As far as bars are concerned the PL bar will be OK. It might be a tad big on the 9m but that means it will turn really quick so gently does it. The PL bars also have heaps of sheeting range so that wont be a problem. Just dont let go of the bar or the kite may roll over. LEI's quite often need a little back line tension anyway - just to keep them straight. As far as other options we need to check the sheeting range on the Flexi bars I'l have a peek on the web site today. So in reality you should consider a Flexi bar. I too have heard the problems with the CBX bar so it maybe a good idea to stay clear of that one for now. 5th line now that's a debate to have. I say look at learning both 4 and 5 lines and as things develop probably stick with the 5th line. It will give you a bit more range plus there's the safety advantage in higher winds. Bars I wouldn't get would be the Airush and RRD (I think) purely because I think the sheeting ranges on them are short. Nothing wrong with them otherwise. I'll have a look around and post some suggestions. Watch this space.
Noo Noo Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 No joys with a V2 so far DM. Very thin on the ground. Fopund a new one for £493 KO.???????? Need to re rig the safety on the G2 bar to run it onto one of the outside lines with the Fusion. Still looking for other options depends if you want a new one or not.
DjMoz Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 I have only seen new V2 10s and they seem to be around £510 KO new.
Noo Noo Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Will be a struggle I reckon. Might get lucky though but I think its a V1 or seriously consider a new one if you're in any hurry. Alternatively a couple might come available if the Scorpion becomes very popular. But even then I think people will tend to hold onto their 10's. Uncertain about the weekend. NE forecast - not too promising. Cross fingers repair man will call today.
Noo Noo Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Now being the man with money to burn Mr Moz I have just found a brand new OR MAKO (06 version) for you. On sale at £250 + PP. Not bad I thought and you may even get it cheaper Now you can buy it and I'll borrow it :D Super fast board which loves to carve. Good for going big. Fits the bill Can you tell I'm bored Oh yeah found a new V2 for £635ish complete
DjMoz Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Still need to get comfy on my current board yet - although I think that I may struggle in proper see chop. Maybe the Mako is the answer! No money to burn just considering the options - what do you reckon 10m V2 and then a 16m Scorpion?
Noo Noo Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Still need to get comfy on my current board yet - although I think that I may struggle in proper see chop. Maybe the Mako is the answer! No money to burn just considering the options - what do you reckon 10m V2 and then a 16m Scorpion? You know you want to. Never said you'd have to get rid of your current board. What would you ride when I've "borrowed" it they're a bit long mind 150cm but skinny (34.5cm) Whoa didn't know you were thinking complete clear out. Got to admit I dont know a lot about the Scorpion. I've deliberately avoided reading too much to avoid temptation. Have to do some reading now. Would relaunch be a bit tough? V high aspect aren't they? more a snow / land kite? better low end than the 13m? Same top end? Could be interesting
Noo Noo Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Been offered a 9m phantom??????????? 8m venom 2 in the for sale section too
