CorsaPete Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 Hi All, I have added a few pics from my china visit hope you dont mind(thought they might make you smile), Dave and NN how about pimping one of these fine motors each. Dont think it would be long enough for Dave to lay down in though :) no room for his bed. What do you think about drag start China style, the guy is on a push bike and yes he is carrying all that behind him on it too:) Plus a selection of fine food that was on offer at our local China Tesco. YUM YUM Not:eek:
Spudley Posted April 19, 2008 Author Report Posted April 19, 2008 As usual guys let me... Mr Safe... know where folks are headed Alarm set for 10;30am Will decide where to go then, definately going though. Have the car and room for others, will check here when i get up but feel free to ring me any time after 10:30 to make arrangements.
snap1 Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Some days in here you can blink and miss a whole lot in this thread lol. Pete, great pics I enjoyed the stories the frogs would be a bit tricky at the checkout . I will not be out n about this weekend have to help parents move into their new house. NooNoo, do not get a mig welder without gas! its a bit micky mouse you will end up with pigeon sh*t weld and it will be ALOT harder to do a good job. I had a Mig 130 turbo which was plenty for welding my mini shortie togeather see pic attached (1.3 Turbo charged intercooled 2 seater convertable mini shortie with flip front )
Noo Noo Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Aha ha sense at last thanks guys. Yeah pretty much decided on having gas. Like the idea of having the option though. Agreed I wont go for an option I cant fit a bottle to. Hmm I'm stuck today. Please drop me a text where you guys are going though. Might follow you down.
CorsaPete Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Snap, glad you liked the pics. What did you mini look like after it was finished? Know what you mean about the welder NN neds, much easier with gas.
Spudley Posted April 19, 2008 Author Report Posted April 19, 2008 Ok then, Anyone coming to the coast? Still unsure where to head but narrowing it down to either Hayling or Avon beach(mudeford) or Sandbanks. Can be ready to leave around 12:30.
Spudley Posted April 20, 2008 Author Report Posted April 20, 2008 Went to Avon beach yesterday(mudeford) A good beach very similar to Sandbanks but less crowded and carpark right on the beach. Friendly crowd down there too, some nice waves over the sandbar. Had a good day till about 5:30 when the wind dropped off.
CorsaPete Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 Sounds like good fun Spudley, I tried to find hill head today and I wish I had taken a map with me. As I got lost - never mind might see what everyone is up to next weekend and tag along. May even have a go and get out - depending on the weather.

snap1 Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 I am going to be camping down at Hayling Island Friday night through to Sunday. I hope I will have eneough room in the car for my board and kite do you guys think it will be worth a shot down there sat or sun? Wind looks the right direction prob a little light for you lot but mihgt be ok for me? If any of you are thinking of going if the wind picks up a bit let me know beofore Firday and I can meet u down there. Looking to get a roof rack tomorrow to fit the board on lol.
Noo Noo Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 i would for sure. Better to have the gear rather than regret it! Check the tides. Aim for couple of hours either side of low and you'll get the flat / shallow water (crossfingers). Hope it isn't too light. Cant see how it wouldn't be beneficial tbh. Reasoning as follows; 1. All time spent with kite is good time 2. Practice board on feet 3. Light wind you can be aggressive with the kite. start off slow and build up. You'll quickly appreciate the power needed and that you WILL be comfortable. 4. Get to know your (and the gaastra's) lower limit 5. Wind wont be gusty 6. getting wet and pumping..........Aaaaaaaaah bisto Top Noo Noo tip. Get your weight a bit more over the centre of the board by trying to be a little duck footed (toes out). Then get that back foot under your ass when you start. http://www.kitefilm.com/video/the_waterstart_part2.wmv brilliant freeze frame in this How will you fit it in the car with the carpet? Wales for me this weekend. Kiting, fishing and van I hope. going to be busy. Ahem. anyone want to buy a board?
Noo Noo Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Pete dude - no problem apart from accomodation - I'm a little thin on that front in every part of the UK. I want to suss out my usual haunt this weekend. See how welcoming the beach patrols are. First time I've been there since they've started back.
Spudley Posted April 24, 2008 Author Report Posted April 24, 2008 Got a pretty busy w/end so not sure if i'll get out. Although the forecast is looking very good for sunday afternoon. Showing SW 20mph and 13C from 10a.m for the solent. Only downside is 9:10am low tide. (at a party saturday night and will be in no fit state for dawn raids.)
CorsaPete Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Hay guys we out for a drink later? NN I don't mind sleeping in a tent if there is somewhere to camp near where you go in Wales, talk about it later. Pete
DjMoz Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Not able to make it tonight Pete, also NN is off home tonight I believe.

Wishing for the weather now!
Noo Noo Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 How'd it go Snap?? Busy weekend for me that's for sure. Made a tentative start on the van. This bodywork lark is going to take some doing but I reckon I'll get there. Managed to sort the minor repairs on the back doors over the weekend. Couple of major repairs needed. Need to get that welder. I'll have to get under the blinking thing as well. had a session at a big wave spot on Saturday. i was poo
snap1 Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 Well I got out Sat, nice warm day. Not a great deal of wind but did manage a few successfully water starts though did not go far due to kite power dieing after the dive to get up, but a good practise session. About 5 other guys were there with huge kites, and they were even struggling to get started which made me feel better LOL. Camping went ok as well, every one seemed happy little one was fine with it all. We got caught in the thunder storm when packing down though . I much prefer Hayling to Poole for sure. I want to get down there on a cross shore 15 for a nice long session to get going!
CorsaPete Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Snap thats good to hear you managed to get up, Sunday was pritty windey I was watching several guys at southsea they were on 12mtr kites. When I am able to get out I will have to try Hayling, better look in to kite insurance as I am pritty dangerous on land so dont know how many I could wipe out on the sea. :D Are we all out for a drink Thursday?
