gixxer1 Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 Me & the wife are thinking of heading here next month. I know that the surfs good up the coast and that kitesurfing goes on at Essaouira but gather this is for advanced folk. As I've only just got the hang of getting up and going is it worth taking my kit? Are there beaches with smaller waves? Also anyone got any general info on the place? Cheers Gary Quote
alan ainsdale Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 yes its worth taking your kit! i spent three months on a surf trip in tagazot just a few miles up the coast in 2001. we where unlucky with the surf as it was often flat or blown out but it can be very good. so we spent a lot of time in agadir flying our new flexi stackers. great beach we learnt to scud boost and eventualy boady drag with 2 super 10s stacked. lots of room and soft deep sand we had some nice cross shore days for boady dragging and this at the time was the best thing ever, permanent smiles on our faces all day. we even kite skateboarded in the main square lots of fun zooming around the smooth polished floor. it was the trip to agadir that got me into kite surfing. i watched a guy on a windsurf board and lei just learning and it looked like fun. ive never surfed since! dont miss out! if the wind forcast is good take your kit! as for waves agadir beach has the smallest waves on the coast and is good for learning. just up the coast bannana village is good for wave riding and you must visit tagazot village most chilled out place in the world just full of surfers and random goats, oh and some nice cheap places to eat. you carnt go rong with chocolate pancakes!!! carlos_climber Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 The place to go .....a way bit to th esouth of Agdir is Dhakla.......a huge lagoon - I mean really huge - warm and wind- well geared up for kite surfing. Quote
impex2 Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 we had coupla ace kite trips to Morocco - essaouira is abfab with vast beach 10km long and very wide with constant wind. ancient walled city & dozens of restaurants/cafes/guesthouses. we also travelled around for a week and checked out agadir - frankly i'd avoid it - very 'package holiday'. as noted above, Tagazhout is great spot - tiny, cheap, full of surfies and close to loadsa quiet little beaches all along that stretch of coast - place is pretty dead at night out of season tho. ps learn how to haggle in french!
