popeyethewelder Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 Yeah shipping is a pain Nas especially, when you get to these sort of dimensions and weight...but there must be some out there for gods sake, how is industrial machinery shipped for example...and the costs can vary sooo much, One local company wanted £675 to ship to Spain, I eventually got a company to do it for £80 Quote
Goz Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 With charges like that its little wonder we see so few European buggies in Australia. When I was hunting around as soon as I mentioned I wanted it shipped to Australia most of the companies just lost interest or just wouldn't even consider it. How the hell does anything get exported from the UK? Quote

Its mad isn't it and probably why John Trainor hasn't got back to you with a quote, my guess is if you CAN find some one to ship it would be in the region of £300-£400....which is just stupid Quote
sluggo Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 When i first got into this crazy sport i bought a Radsail buggy from Germany and they were fantastic with their shipping . I'm pretty sure it was 15 kgs at 25 euros and within a week. Quote

JKS Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 The trick is in bulk .... or shared space ... otherwise it's a minefield of $ Quote
sluggo Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 Yeah the smaller that you can get your package, obviously the cheaper ........... but seriously POPEYE if you come over here we will give you wine women and song (not in that order ) :D:D Quote

Steve Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 NAS I got back to you but you had already committed to purchase elsewhere, and now I see you are a PKD team rider. I was going to say next time, but that might be a while now eh? :-) Kitepower has just placed a large order for several Libre buggies and bits, and we will be stocking and servicing the brand in Australia now. So there is a choice of buggies, and now dealers. Landkiters are not forgotten at Kitepower, and we do our best to hold the largest range of the latest kites, landboards and buggies anywhere in Oz, and from what I am told by overseas visitors, we have some of the most extensively stocked kiteshops on the planet! Always looking for good product and am talking to other brands and manufacturers all the time, but you lot all have to work much harder and infect more people with the land kite madness virus, so that we can justify bringing in even more variety of toys!!!! Now get back to work. Quote

I was going to say next time, but that might be a while now eh? :-) where does it say PKD Team rider Steve ? And why dont you send the crew out to do some demos. Come on man, get over it will ya....so I didnt buy a bug from you. It OK, Nas. Quote
Steve Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 In your sig, it says Paracontrol Kite Buggy - team racing. What are we meant to assume by you now including that at the end of every post you make? Makes no difference to me, just curious. Nothing implied, nothing maliciously intended, ok. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 No, no intention to make anyone think that at all steve. Im unsure if the kite dudes have a trademark or copyright on the word paracontrol, I just thought it meant four string steering. If thats the case I will absolutely rethink it. Maybe you missed the M.U.F part, or the fact there is no part that says PKD. Strange. But if I had brought a buggy from you instead of Briskites, I dont think you would be nibbling at my heel like a rabid fox terrier, particularly as a you are somewhat an EK officionado with your kitepower support badge. They have so much more grace in Geelong. Steve.... STFU at me. Thanks, Nas. Quote

Doubt that only I was the only one to make the mistake of assuming you were sponsored, by Briskites and PKD (Paracontrol Kite Division?). But since we are on the topic, are you? If you had bought a Libre buggy from Kitepower, we would not be having this conversation for sure! However I would still and will ask questions about things that appear deceptive or confusing. I am not an official on XK forums, far from it. I supply advertising and sponsorship financial support, but that does not give me any rights at all in the forums, over and above the same rights you and everyone else enjoys. However, it is pretty obvious that it is open season on Steve from Kitepower by certain people on these forums, people can say anything disparaging they seem to feel like, and I have virtually no right of reply. I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't. Goshen from the Geelong store is my son FYI. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 NAS, why are you being so nasty towards me.? Im not being that nasty, but you keep pushing. Doubt that only I was the only one to make the mistake of assuming you were sponsored, by Briskites and PKD (Paracontrol Kite Division?). But since we are on the topic, are you? After ADMITTING you were mistaken to assume I was sponsored... you then go on the ask me AGAIN if I am sponsored. I orta put your dumb arse on ignore right now man, and your ******* business. No steve im not sponsored by anyone at all and as already stated theres absolutely no reference to any company or business name whatsoever in my sig, nor do I hint it. No PKD or Briskites anywhere in my sig. And no kitepower. M.U.F goes back to 1999. Its been a sporting/social club idea of mine which was awesomely successful in Darwin for a number of years. It was then based around Touch Football under lights, Indoor cricket, and Indoor sand volleyball. There was about 14 or 15 of us. All with the M.U.F Tshirt, and a number on the back. Ity was unforgettable fun. It was also based around a weekly sunday M.U.F Must Attend BBQ and drinks Brunch. It slowly dissolved after about 18 months...reason being 100% of the members were military at the time. Now, behind behind the M.U.F logo, is me and two mates. Im a fitter by trade, driven bdoubles for the last few years, bikes for 20 and live to gofast. Horrie has a deep knowledge on bikes, bike mechanics and all things speed related. When we saw the land speed record we laughed. The other guy is Bob. Hes a fitter, can fix rebuild or repair anything from a slot car to a Mack truck. Bob is the silent secret weapon. A mechanical genius and 30 year bike veteran. In my profile I have a number of brands, but it states, "Using"... "not sponsored by" just to make that perfectly clear. Assumption is bad for business by the way. If you had bought a Libre buggy from Kitepower, we would not be having this conversation for sure! Id prefer I wasnt having it. But Im still glad I brought it from brisbane and by **** Im that excited I only had 3 hours sleep last night. However I would still and will ask questions about things that appear deceptive or confusing. You're the only one asking questions dude. And as already stated, if Im in breach of any trademark or company copyright or whatever, no worries its done. I am not an official on XK forums, far from it. I supply advertising and sponsorship financial support, but that does not give me any rights at all in the forums, over and above the same rights you and everyone else enjoys. Then STFU about my sig. And as Director and Owner of Kitepower, you of all people should be able to quickly determine weather or not I am in breach of any companys name or logo. However, it is pretty obvious that it is open season on Steve from Kitepower by certain people on these forums, people can say anything disparaging they seem to feel like, and I have virtually no right of reply. I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't. Personally Im far from needing a hug, but we can go on with it if you like. Goshen from the Geelong store is my son FYI. I already knew this. Hes a nice guy and Im bummed that his old man has carried on like a child that missed out on a lollypop. **** this, Im over it. Nas. Quote
JKS Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Me thinks we have the first two contestants for the 'Kite buggy Joust' Have a good one lads ... my lunch is finnished Quote
Steve Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Geez NAS, chill out mate. Sorry I ever made any comment, or ever questioned you. Mate one thing for sure is that I did not lose any sleep over missing any of the several deals that whent elswhere yesterday, and everyday, in this business, thats life in retail, we cannot win them all. Good luck with your buggy purchase I hope it all goes well for you, and you get some sleep and then get to find out how fast you can really go in a buggy. Safely and survive it. End of banter with me. Quote
bill_gill85 Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Steve, its ok... I guess I'm just as dumb as you are, to a point.... Nas's sig clearly suggests that he has some affiliation with Paracontrol Kite Division, or PKD, however I assume that it is just as an end user. No-one with that kind of attitude would ever make it to "Team Rider" status. I guess seeing as I fly Ozone kites I then I'm one of their crowd.... Appo, buddy, c'mon mate. I must ask though, what ever happened to Notanotherstack? is he just another Hugh Gemember? Mods, lock, split, bastardise or castrate this thread, do what you will 'cause its strayed too far. Guest Anonymous Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 I have no wish to be a 'team rider" as such Bill. Id prefer to be team owner. But seeing as theres some obvious confusion, I will change it. Hate to give the wrong impression. Cheers, Nas. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Done. And happy to do so as the word paracontrol isnt in the dictionary. When are these buggies arriving steve ? Quote
Fast_Eddie Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Sorry to butt in guys I just ran out of popcorn and for the life of me I cannot see where NAS implied that he is sponsored, or an enduser, or whatever through his SIG. It JUST SAYS PARACONTROL KITE BUGGY RACING Nothing else. Have we stooped so low that we ask for someone to be moderated for this??? methinks we should go for a kite fly and chillax. Fast Eddie Steve, its ok... I guess I'm just as dumb as you are, to a point.... Guest Anonymous Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 its a cool word hey eddie, paracontrol. when used in conjunction with kite division, it would be trademarked and copyrighted. I know that ignorance makes me want some paracetamol. However the word paracontrol on its own is just a manufactured noun/adjective to discribe how the fasion in which something in particular is controlled. like parachute style kites. Horrie will be distraught. Its all good. Makes no diff what your name is on the black line. Nas. Quote

Steve Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 Done. And happy to do so as the word paracontrol isnt in the dictionary. When are these buggies arriving steve ? Soon, details will be up on the website asap as well. Order was placed a while ago, thats why I was able to give you quotes and was confident I could supply what you wanted. Damned shingles and the meds I am on though have been wreaking havoc on the energy levels, one of the side effects is listed as "confusion" Famciclovir side effects Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Less serious side effects may include: nausea, vomiting, stomach pain; headache; diarrhea, dizziness, sleepiness; mild itching or skin rash; or confusion. Its all good though I am on the mend as of yesterday and I would not wish shingles on anyone! Quote
