The local boys at http://www.skypilotkiteboarding.com in conjunction with http://www.river-rippers.net and Mark Godley of http://www.kitelauncher.com have set up a raffle with all proceeds going to the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina victims' aid.

What is being raffled?

2005 Naish Raven 10m

How much are tickets?

$12 Canadian, or approx £5.50 each, via PayPal

When is the draw?

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005.

Where can I get tickets?

Right over here on our side of the interweb pond:

http://skypilotkiteboarding.com/modules.php?name=Raffle_1

Can I buy more than one?

Yes. You'll just have to return to the raffle page & click the PayPal donate button again for each additional ticket. There should be no need to re-register each time, as you email address will match your original registration data.

What about shipping over to the UK?

I'm not sure if it'll be covered on our end or if it'll cost you... but either way, it shouldn't be more than £40, tops. I've shipped a couple things your way, and had a couple kites sent over here from the UK - so I know what it costs. Even if you do have to pay the max £40 in the end, it's all for a great cause & still an amazing deal on a kite!

IMPORTANT NOTE:

When registering, do not submit your registration until after you click the donate button which will open a separate window for your PayPal transaction.

International politics aside - there're human beings that need help to survive. Even Fidel Castro can see this and has offered up dozens of doctors should the United States accept their aide. A fiver & a half is a small, manageable, contribution you can make that when added together with everyone elses could very well help save lives.

Update: The draw is going to be made live at 9pm on Friday September 23rd at the Shark Club sports bar in Vancouver, as per the following announcement/article:

http://www.skypilotkiteboarding.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=124

Chances of winning are still pretty darned good due to the number of donation tickets sold to date! Which is why the draw date is being delayed until Friday's party - to raise more donations via ticket sales as well as the party.:)

Unfortunately I won't personally be able to attend & confirm the winner (as I have to work) - but I am 110% certain that someone out there who makes a $12cdn donation is going to be mighty happy with their prize worth over 100 times that amount!

BUMP BUMP

hope RITA is not as bad

it's apparently going to be worse :(

katrina knocked 900k barrels of crude/day off of production... rita could knock 3million/day off.

also, one MILLION people are being evacuated farther inland.

and if it hits as hard as they figure it might, corpus christi (island) is going to be all but gone & there'll be a massive amount of erosion the coast, resulting in flooding quite a bit inland...
