ajkiwi88 Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 right im not intendng to use it with a kite yet. but a mate of mine is bringing on around today and wondered if anybody had any tips on riding one? its the old skateboards where the feet moved independantly cyaz aj Quote
mazule Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 It'll take 10 or so minutes of standing on the bugger to work out how you power it. Just strap yr feet in and stand there wiggling yr feet till you feel the lateral movement provide you with a forward (or backward) thrust. Then keep doing that. Get knee pads. Then learn to stop by sliding the board. They're awesome. I am really suprised they didn't catch on more. Have fun! J Quote
mazule Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 ps if you decide to try one with a kite... make sure you dial 999 before you get on the thing. You won't last long! Quote

ziggi Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 Got any links? Are they they same as the no-snow freeriding road board thingy? In the Snowboarding forum at the moment. Ziggi Quote
Marky G Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 no they are like skateboards but the cut in half with the front and rear sections connected by hinges to a center section. really really hard to ride. M Quote
Gandromedus Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 Hurray, snakeboard - gimmick extraordinaire, my mate's brother was really good on one, good fun but takes a bit of practice, I could only go backwards! Reckon it could be quite good fun with a kite, easier to get moving at least! Quote
Ally Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 http://www.tamiboard.com/kor/product/img/snakeboard.gif one of them. always wanted one but never got one:( Quote
ziggi Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 AH' that's it. Bugger that for a game of ****** Find it hard enough on a normal thing. Cheers all. Ziggi Quote
mazule Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 At uni we used to have one in the kitchen. I would roll around on it whilst cooking. Was great fun. Had some spectacular crashes on them tho when out. You really need the bindings and the bungees. If you have them then you can throw your weight about a lot more and get some real speed. Kinda like tic-tacking on a normal skateboard, but with a bit of an extra twist. It also helps if you have a board with a bit of suspension and a flexible crossbar. J Quote
conor Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 i saw a guy riding around on one recently he was able to power himself well on flat , it looked great fun but difficult. Quote
conor Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 can anyone recomend a good one with bindings , i really want to try one Quote
mazule Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 They're kinda hard to get hold of now. Company went into liquidation I think. May have been bought out tho. This is the best I can do for you. http://www.theskateshop.co.uk/Homepage.aspx?id=51 We used to make our own heel bungees out of bike tyre inner tubes, water pipe insuation and lots of electrical tape. Tho for a tenner you may as well buy them. They used to cost ££££££££££. For £50 you can't go wrong. Not sure whether this one has the suspension. The decks look like the plastic ones, but no matter, because once they break you just cut up a cheapo skate deck and replace them. Hope that helps. Quote
mazule Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 ooooooooOOOOooooo.... just found this. It looks in brilliant nic. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13375&item=5206358567&rd=1&ssPageName=WD2V Things to look out for... when a snakeboarder gets good they stop by sliding to tailing foot round so they are toeside. Look at the toe side wheels then and see if they are worn to a conical shape. This is the best indicator of use. That and the griptape wear. Quote
craikeybaby Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 I'll have to have a look to see if mine is in the garage, they are good fun, but nowhere as near as fun as a mountain board/snowboard. Quote
