kitingplasterer Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 hello im on my boyfriends account and am looking for some advice, i want to buy him a kitesurfing board as he is about to start learning for his birthday ive seen a slingshot doyle 122cm for sale on ebay which looksin really good nick, but would this be a good beginners board or is it to advanced?/ please some help thanx Quote
highflyer1599968632 Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 hi from what i know (which isnt much at all), a larger board is more suited towards beginners as you need less power to actually get moving on a larger board. A friend of mine is just starting too and he is making is own board (150cm) Wait for a reply from someone who is more experienced - they may say go for the smaller board but with the understanding its going to be a bit tougher to get started. cheers Quote
Husky_Joe Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 I've just started and bought one of these, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7154405814&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT Off a mate. It will get me up and away without loads of frustration ideal to learn on. If hes looking for a new de-power kite try a wipika core. Got mine Complete for £499 with the fifth line system form http://www.whitstablewindsurfing.com/hotdeals/hotdeals.aspx Got an 11m Very nice and easy to learn on. I think that board you mentioned is a tad small to learn on, but after he does learn it might be a good board to progress to. Hope this helps. Quote
npeac Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 shh dont post anymore or he will see this thread when he logs on. unless he is under ten stone that boards too small. Quote

Airpowerd Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 140+ for beginning (10st) getting larger if he's heavier upto 170cm. once he can hold ground and not go down wind take 15cm of those figures (as a guesstimate) Quote
