blondie Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 Going to be in Great Yarmouth for a weekend soon, is it worth taking my buggy and kites with me or has buggying been baned from all the beaches over that way now? Blondie Quote
hank Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 i dont think its banned there but its not a very big beach and the sand is soft there. Quote
blondie Posted April 14, 2005 Author Report Posted April 14, 2005 is there anyway in the area that is worth going to?? don't mind travelling upto an hour or so Quote
Kat Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 Yarmouth is a tip......the beach is too small for buggying and the sand is about as soft as it comes... Gorleston beach is a possiblity but it isnt very big, is a dog walkers / family day out heaven ...and is ony really good for kiting in an easterly... If you do decide to try Yarmouth out regardless watch out for glue sniffing Chavs...I gave up trying to static fly on the beach there beach because of them........ There may be beaches in Lowestoft direction but I dont know that area so well so I cant comment. Quote
jonsale Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 travel north up the coast to hunstanton or brancaster... but see the sticky in the "buggying" thread about brancaster as it's members only so you'll need to check you can get a day membership. hunstanton is a good size and normally plenty of people. nearer to yarmouth is "hemsby" but i have never attempted buggying there, seems choosy depending on wind direction and sand is not as hard but if you can dodge the sea debris you may be ok. but hunny/brancaster would be better plus hemsby is a bit of a dump Quote
allen fearn Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 try coming over to wymondam 10 mins from norwich. You have to be insured. There is a club there but if you are in the area I think it would be alright for you to use the field. If you give kellers Kite/model shop a phone and speak to alex he will be able to help. Quote
Vertigo1599968637 Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 You could have a look at Winterton just around the coast to the North. Good for recreationl flying. Keep meaning to take the buggy down when the tide is out, its got some hard'ish stuff but not very wide, wind would need to be in the right direction! Quote
Skydude Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 Hemsby, Winterton and Sea Palling are passable in the right winds (on shore). Sea Palling being best in my book of the 3. Some of the lifeguards at Hemsby Buggy so have a word with them as well.. Winterton just be careful that the Cafe doesn't fall onto the beach while you're there as you may get the blame, being one of those naughty Buggy types....LOL Quote
