littlemisssammy Posted March 30, 2005 Report Posted March 30, 2005 Hi, I have just bought a 7M bullet for buggying... do you think I need a harness?! If so, what would be the best one? Ideally it would fit me and my boyfriend, hes a bit thinner than me in the waist, im a size 12-14 Also, if I have a harness, can I still kill the kite if I need to? (Which Im sure I will!!!) Cheers Quote
moomin Posted March 30, 2005 Report Posted March 30, 2005 Hey Sam, You're quite welcome to try out my harness if you want. I've got a Da Kine Wahine seat harness, which is really comfy. Generally, I'd say go for a girl specific harness, as it can be quite difficult to find a 'blokes' harness that fits well, keeps the bar where you want it, and is comfy. I think you'll prob be needing it to keep that bullet in check, otherwise you might end up with very long arms very quickly! Quote
littlemisssammy Posted March 30, 2005 Author Report Posted March 30, 2005 Ah that would be excellent, thanks very much! What about killing the kite, is it still possible? Or does that mean its always attached to you?! Quote
moomin Posted March 30, 2005 Report Posted March 30, 2005 You can still kill the kite, although not as easily as just flying on handles. It does mean pulling your strop out of you hook / roller, then letting go. Should you be having an 'oh sh*t' moment, then TBH, you're more likely to get pulled out of the buggy than to be able to unhook, especially if you're quite powered up. Quote
littlemisssammy Posted March 30, 2005 Author Report Posted March 30, 2005 thats what I thought! Oh well, lots of pads for me then! hee hee! Quote
Hathba Posted March 30, 2005 Report Posted March 30, 2005 A mate of mine flies with a harness but attached the kitekillers to the harness so they kill the kite if he releases. If you wanna make a bloke harness fit, stick a couple of golf balls in yer thong Mind you, as i find out regularly, quick releases arent a lot of use when u are face scudding down the beach on top of them. Also, i have a 7M bullet and it tries to kill me every time i buggy with it - HOW DO YOU SLOW THEM DOWN TO TURN ??? Quote
marman Posted March 30, 2005 Report Posted March 30, 2005 yeah i have never had use for a quick release on my frenzy which i buggied with, if u need to let go just flick off the chicken loop. just as u practise dont attach ur self fully to the harness Quote

robinmac Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 Had my first OBE (out of buggy experience) on Monday, whilst hooked into a harness. There was certainly no time to think about unhooking and letting go. One minute I was scrubbing off some speed ready to stop, the next thing I know is I was looking down at the ground, thinking "christ I have been in the air a long time. This is going to hurt". I was right! I had my car keys in my pocket as well. Nice bruise about the size of a small frizbee on my thigh and can't move my shoulder properly. I am now looking at improving the quick release pin on my harness strop, but if you are powered up, it will not matter. you won't have time to unhook. I learnt a lesson. When in a buggy, don't turn your back on a blade 4.9! Quote

When in a buggy, don't turn your back on a blade 4.9! You should have learnt 2 lessons mate. 1. Dont turn back on a 4.9, been there and it hurt me as much as it did you. 2. Empty yer pockets before u launch - also been there and now EVERYTHING gets left in the bag at basecamp. Quote
