Right at last I get to start a thread yippppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee but cant be arsed to write anything so just copied the last introduction and just paste it on here. Yep call me lazy if you want :D

So here goes.............

We are an informal group of Kite fliers that meet at several locations normally not further than around an hours drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh. Examples: Stevenston; Troon; St. Andrews; Falkirk ; Dunbar ; Irvine Beach Park.

We would be happy to meet other Kiters from around the area and offer our experience to people who are just starting out with their kites.

We mostly fly 4 line power kites but also have two line power kites. We also have a selection of Kite Buggies, KiteATB and Kiteboards.

So if anyone fancies a chat about Kites or just wants some help setting their kite up feel free just to pop along and introduce yourself. :D :D

Hmm, is there a pattern developing?

Martie actually bothers to get out of the car on a kiting session, Martie gets hurt. History repeats itsefl :)

In other news:

No one missed anything at Ainsdale this weekend because sod all happened (we missed you Paul but you missed nothing, except a couple of jobs that will be heading your way anyway!). Saturdays offshore zephyr was replaced by a sea zephyr. Any kite over 9m is now to be called an "Ainsdale" kite. It was not possible to run a race although a feasible course had been layed out. Some people cruised on the biggest kites they could but most of them spent more time on the ground, mine stayed out of the water, mainly because it stayed on the ground..... Bill was motoring on a 12.2 nitro, doing I guess around 15mph in 2mph of wind, and no the kite won't fly in 2mph but he was launching in gusts and apparant wind kept it flying! Today we had wind. Still offshore over the dunes, slightly lumpy and variable, speeds between 8mph and 33mph were measured, there were problems with the long course and dead spots and to be frank race kites were behaving lethally, so the race was cancelled. Did cruise a bit on an Oxigen, it was luffing almost as much as anything else, but they keep pointing the same way so when you shake them out they gently pick up power and you keep going, unlike race kites which generally end up pointing behind you and drag you 50 feet downwind if you can stay in the buggy.

Hoylake on Thursday was awesome. 3m weather all day, max speed in my buggy was 45mph, tack turns were nailed, and I was pretty much keeping up with abugy although he was a size down. Friday was mostly for Ainsdale kites but there was at least enough to fly them and cruise the bank, max speed 31.1mph on my 11m in around 10-12 mph of wind!

Oh yeah, and the Irvine Flyers/Extreme Zone team had a great time despite the lack of races, they all got to try proper race buggies and Davie had mine up to 29.9mph without knowing it! I think they are all busy inventing ways to explain to their partners why they have to spend so much more money on buggies and kites now :)

So anyone else got any news? Was Martie the only casualty?

Yep had a great day learning new trick kiting moves off Grant at St Andys. Even got to do some boarding with the 6.6m blade and still got the knack. Did some buggying aswell but as my right arm is a wee bit shorter now  kind of noticed when flying the kite , so its adjust the lines on the right just a bit. Weird.

Apart from that a good day.
