sbrazier Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 hi people.. wonder if you can help clear up something, I was recommended to check out Camber sands at xmas with my new board, popped down when near the area to check out the site, without kite as i was just passing. I noticed in the loos, not posted anywhere else!! a notice saying that buggies and boards were banned from a certain area of the beach, but not being able to find a sign that named the area's i'm at a loss to where i can and can't board. I entered the beach at a car park that had a nice cafe, and there was a good showing of Kite surfers camped here and were using it as a base to go out from, (tide was in of course) can anyone let me know where i can board from, don't want to upset a situation on my first outing.... I noted a petition on the SEKA site as well... Also can anyone piont me in the directions of a good tide times site, for obvious reasons! Quote
carlesma Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 on the road that goes along the coast to camber beach there is a huge gravel carpark (you cant miss it, it is so large) you can park in there and set up the other side of the bank, when the tide goes out there is a small channel left near the end of the groins but the sand the other side of that there is loads of hard packed sand to play on. sbrazier Posted January 27, 2005 Author Report Posted January 27, 2005 hello again samurai girl?! go on sell me that kite! anyway i'm guessing Brightons the closest location for camber on your link? Big gravel carpark........mmmmm missed that last time but then again not looking for it, but i did note a few barriered carparks as i drove in might have been one of those, will look out for it next week, planning a day off to go play, or learn anyway. Creaky Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 sbrazier the car park/beach is called Jurys Gap and its opposite the Pontins holiday park, you almost have to drive out of Camber to get to it along the road to the huge MOD area. Maybe see you down there sometime Quote
br d Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 A few of us from Essex (www.powerkiters.co.uk) were down there at xmas sb and there were no problems. As has already been said, you want the beach section adjacent to the gravel car park just passed Pontins, excellent kiting if the tide is right. br d Quote
jonwall Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 anyway i'm guessing Brightons the closest location for camber on your link? . It has got Dungeness and Rye harbour on it if you look right more, they will give a slightly more accurate result, although i expect it isn't too different. jury's gap is a good spot, but only about 3 hours after high tide imho, there's just not enough beach otherwise. Dr-Manic Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 as creaky pointed out there is a year round restriction meaning we can only use jurys gap:rolleyes: Quote
sbrazier Posted January 28, 2005 Author Report Posted January 28, 2005 thanks guys i think i was at the more left hand side as you look at the see, will take a run down soon, probably on the weekend that way by the sounds of things there should be a good few people about and i'll just head in your direction. is the resrtiction on buggies only, ie can i board or as usual anything with wheels! thanks for the advice and i shall go in search of the huge gravel carpark next weekend i reckon! cheers stu Quote
db. Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 is the resrtiction on buggies only, ie can i board or as usual anything with wheels! The restriction is everything including kitesurfing........ Quote
voodoo chile Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 the gravel car perk is the place to go. there are signs up warning the public that the beack there is a kite zone. when the tide's out the sand bank is quite wide, even enough to have fun on cross shore wind day. it gets my vote. not as vast an area as greatstone though, which is the other side of dungeness Quote
wotsit4 Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 The restriction is everything including kitesurfing........ Kitesurfing is allowed in the central area during the winter months, I believe up until Easter. Everything wheeled has to use Jurys gap. Quote
db. Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 You can buggy/board west up to the Red sign. Quote
