too much wind Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 Why are people putting there kites for sale in this section and clogging it up when there is a separate for sale section especially for SELLING your kites in? Any chance of the adminstators moving such threads, this section is for helpfull advice not a place for 'Anyone want want to buy my worn out kite'. There's been three in here today alone! Quote
alastairy2k Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 Maybe if the sale area was admin'd better and didn't allow people to clutter up that section of the forum by selling their turntables / records / PS2s / hats / lampshades, people wouldn't need to post in here. As it stands, I'm all for it. If you want to kitesurfers to see your ad you'll post in the area of the forum where kitersurfers look. Quote

Even worse are the people who try to flog their cars etc on a KITE forum. Non kite related ads should be deleted by the administrators. Quote
alan ainsdale Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 chill out!!!! i thinks its easy to look for kite surf gear in the kitesurf section and much harder to find things in the for sale section. remember this forum is for kitesurfers if they want to talk about selling their equipment then thats what they will do its should be up to the kitesurfers. i have put several adverts in the kitesurfing forum and in the for sale forum and had a much greater responce from the kitesurf forum. there is a lot this time of year due to all the new equipment being launched and people upgrading but things will carm down in the next few weeks. Jonno Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 I posted in this section cos the for sale has sooo many ads that within a couple of hours any ad is off the page. Kitesurfing kites for sale in kitesurfing section? What is wrong with that? In my opinion this section gets clogged up with trivial crap like this thread. Where does it say this section is just for advice? I thought it was for anything kitesurfing related. Think you have too much time on your hands too much wind! Rant over. Quote
kiteingcolin Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 i'm for it, as it is the only place outside e bay to let real kitesurfers know whats on offer, the for sale section is a complete mess, and moves far too quickly to make it worthwhile, also it gives a good understanding to our kitesurf buddies the beach prices of our equipment, newbies come in and ask questions and gain valid information from the guys who will not bull**** them, (as the rest of the group wont let them) , on the for sale forum you dont get that reasurance, look at my for sale items, i do think it is best to put them on e bay , as i have done, but then linked across to the forum to let the forum guys have the chance to bid, two regular guys have pm'd me to ask about them, so i say leave it as it is, look at the guys on today who are unsure about beginers boards and their price, great feedback and advice, not available from the for sale section, look at the dicussion around kite sizes, that my for sale post has generated, this is invaluable information for lots of forum uses, and also gets them to chip in, sometimes this forum can get a bit dull, and even a new post about stuff for sale provokes thought and dicussion. so for me leave it in, as long as it stays focused on kitesurfing and only kitesurfing. NeverAlive Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 I think kiteincolin and jonno managed to nail it. The for sale forum moves too fast and is a bit of mess, but that is the for sale forum and you will find that many ppl that are interested in buying something will take a look back to a couple of days... but unfortunatelly the argument of this being related to any kitesurfing stuff is a load of rubbish because it will end up an even bigger mess than the for sale. It just an excuse to give yourself a better chance to sell something that ppl looking in this area probably don't want Quote
kev6800 Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 TOO MUCH WIND if it affends you when you see a for sale ad on here simple dont read it Quote
AliB Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 i only really look at the kitesurfing page and im sure many more are the same. TAKE A CHILL PILL Quote
Neptune Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 I don't mind people selling here provided that people put "For sale....." in the title of the post and all things should only be kitesurf related in this forum. Helps to browse over the ones that are not interesting to me at the time. Agree that the for sale forum moves too fast. Maybe we should ask Flexifoil for more detailed "For sale" forums. I.E. seperate Kites - boards - harnesses etc. My 2 pennies worth...... Mark Quote
Bob Monkhouse Posted January 19, 2005 Report Posted January 19, 2005 chill out!!!!. Like the man said, B I mostly use the 'new posts' button anyway so it 'dunt really matter' I don't know any kitesurfers who aren't interested in a kite or board for sale anyway ? Give me more !!! Quote
shemKSW Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 Kite surf section, Kite surf sales. It makes sense!! Quote
Q-bert Posted January 20, 2005 Report Posted January 20, 2005 i'm for it, as it is the only place outside e bay to let real kitesurfers know whats on offer, the for sale section is a complete mess, and moves far too quickly to make it worthwhile, also it gives a good understanding to our kitesurf buddies the beach prices of our equipment, newbies come in and ask questions and gain valid information from the guys who will not bull**** them, (as the rest of the group wont let them) , on the for sale forum you dont get that reasurance, look at my for sale items, i do think it is best to put them on e bay , as i have done, but then linked across to the forum to let the forum guys have the chance to bid, two regular guys have pm'd me to ask about them, so i say leave it as it is, look at the guys on today who are unsure about beginers boards and their price, great feedback and advice, not available from the for sale section, Actually the only place real kite surfers in the UK hang out is on http://www.kiteboarder.co.uk/ which has done a great job of replacing the knackered BKSA forum. I am with 2muchwind on this one, my vote would be to remove adds from this forum section as it just clogs everything up and those peps who keep bumping thier posts up are really anoying. Interesting that the ones in favour are the ones who post for sale on this forum. Quote
too much wind Posted January 20, 2005 Author Report Posted January 20, 2005 Kev I don't bother to read them, hence they don't offend me. Ok yesterday was a bit of a rant, but my point is, if it carries on (and more for sale adds to seem to be appearing in this section) we will end up with a kitesurfing section that is just like the for sale section. Moving way too quickly, personnally i think that this would be a bad thing! If this happens it'll be interesting to see if you guys who sell your kit in this section still have the same opinion. I just think it's one of those things that once it starts will become the norm! Agreed Jonno it doesn't say anywhere that this section is for advice only, my mistake. However if you think this thread is trivial crap then why did you bother to post, it would appear that i'm not the only with too much time on my hands! :-) Besides as kitingcollin says this forum can get a bit dull sometimes and a heated debate is always entertaining trivial or not. As for people advertising other stuff that's not kite related, i agree that should be stopped, don't they know how to use e-bay? Quote
