Powerballs Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 Greetings to all the limp wristed gentlemen of the Flexifoil forum! :-) Hmm...I haven't visited in a while and am impressed with you guys - thanks for keeping the thread alive and thanks for enjoying the splendid spheres so much - I trust that you will be seeing good benefits in your flying at this stage from all that use? Anyway - down to business. Akis...our "Greek Powerball God" friend! We are flying him to London this week and would like to invite any of you who might happen to be in the area on Friday or Saturday next (3rd & 4th of June) to drop into Hamleys on Regent street and see for yourself just what it takes to whip a ball up to 15k (it looks good on video, but you have no idea how incredible it looks to see it done in real life!) - and he can hit 15k with either hand! And rather than drag you off the beaches for 'just' this amazing spectacle, we'll also be giving away Powerball prizes to those of you who can (cringe!) spin a Neon Blue or Green Pro at over 12500rpm! (Now, how fair is that eh?) We'll probably limit it to a max of 100 free Powerballs so if you are a 12.5k+ man (or woman!) then get down fast and claim your free ball. I hope he is on form and bats out a few 15k scores for us (it doesn't happen for him every day mind...he usually has to work up to it for the week before, so I hope his training routine works for a weekend of high speed runs!) Adrena1in Posted May 31, 2005 Author Report Posted May 31, 2005 I'll have to have a few endurance sessions this week, as I'm off form at the moment...I've hardly ever won anything in my life, so it would be nice to run off a 12.5k on a Neon and win one back, (after selling mine on here recently). Did 12.8k this morning on my trusty old 250Hz, then 12.5 and a bit on my new 250Hz. Imagine I'd have managed about 12.3k on a Neon. (However, my old neon was a Power-balls.com one, not a "proper" one, so Rory's may be quicker!!) And Calum...98th now mate!! 13,777 is the 100th place score, but 18 revs behind you! Come on fella, your out last, best hope for Top 100 recognition! Stay in there dude! Quote

I couldn't be bothered to travel all the way there to witness this event, and I wish I had now!! Mind you, no way was I on form enough to do a 12.5k with a Neon, so knowing I wasn't going to win a free one put me off a bit. Never mind. Quote

And then Tuesday and yesterday did loads of reps of weights working my arms (I never normally do weights) and then yesterday night got 6 scores above my previous record more or less in a row and I'm finally over 12,000 at 12400 ish. Adrenal1n you were absolutely right about my wrist (this was a couple of months ago) hasn't been giving me any of my normal aches and pains and I have landed on it moutaninboarding without the normal week of agony afterwards. Akis has beaten his World record again, but only by a little bit. He's now just 25 RPM away from running at 260Hz!! My best is 220.683Hz...Calum's is 229.916Hz. Quote

I've not used mine much lately, but I'm going to start again. Why? They're starting a new scoreboard at http://www.powerballs.com. Calum, you should be able to get your name up there again, as they're having like a "Division 2" scoreboard, for places 101 to 200. You be about 110th or something. They're also going to start a 90-second Strength Index contest. A bit like the endurance scoreboard (which I so deftly owned) but not subject to cheating. So, get the ball spinning, start the counter, swap hands...whatever, just get the highest possible Strength Index score you can. I've managed 16,461, but know I can do a lot more. Quote

WOW! mind you it's been a while since i've "squeezed one out", did manage 13100 the other day but going to have a go over the next few weeks to push for #1 on the flexi site. And once I've got back "into the swing", I'll be aiming for 2nd place myself, so watch your back BFG.
