Bigal Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 Is a blade 4 much more powerful than a 3m Sami. I was out at the weekend and my kite just wasn't big enough. I love it in high winds but the weather isn't so great at the moment. I've not been kiting long so im worried the 4.9 will kick my ass. Do you think a 4m would be a sensible option or just keep saving for a bigger blade or a depowerable? Quote
DazDare2000 Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 Hi mate im Darren, if ur 3m sam just hasnt got you going no more then the Blades the way to go.:DDo you like lift from ur flying? If you do mate go 4 bigger and better. How about the The "Legendry 4.9"? Kick ur Ass you say !!OH YES i know that one:eek: as im a newbie 3-4 mths, And my Beloved BLADE3 4.9 was my first kite:D And yes ive seen A&E,not just once lol.( BUT I AM WELSH AND LOVE IT,ieMAD).But now ive learnt wow! Wot an AWESOME KITE:D Just starting to learn boarding & yes struggling at times too.So if ur a fairly competant Flyer (know how 2 use window etc) I feel the 4.9 could be ur man, could get bored of a 4m but never a 4.9,dont ask me why but flown both and the 4.9 wins, hands down.God im babbling on again Best of luck Boy Bach . schmik1599968584 Posted December 7, 2004 Report Posted December 7, 2004 Depends on your weight. If you are small a 4m will be plenty. If you are a bit bigger (or your balls are large) then go for the 4.9. The 4.9 is a beast! Remember though that the blades prdduce a bucket load more lift than the samurais. The 4.9 will kick your ass eventually.... especially if you fly in gusty winds. See what you can get second hand. When the sabre comes out there will be heaps of blades going second hand. As you are still new you will be rough on your kites so there is no point in getting a shiny new one and trashing it. Normally i would say that there is too much overlap between a 3m and a 4m but the blade is totally differnent to a sami. schmik Quote

djstrauss281 Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 hi, there is no comparison between the blade and the samurai. sammi is more for buggying then anything else. blade is in total different league than the sammi when it comes to lift and pull. if i was you definately go for a 4.9. i had both and the 4m was never used. look around, they go for bargains now adays. good luck Quote
Bigal Posted December 8, 2004 Author Report Posted December 8, 2004 So no-one thinks i should save up and go to depowerable then? The 4.9 blade looks nice but im just worried about the wind range of them. I was told that they are only good in certain winds. Low winds can't fly and high winds it kick your ass. Is it fine if your carefull with it? Quote
JIMBO_7 Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 My blade 3 4.9 was my fist kitearound 6 months ago. Its kicked my ass a few times, buts its all good. I find the kite a handful in gusty winds. The other day i was flying and the wind must have been about 6 -10 mph, nice and gentle doing pendulum jumps. I've just found that she needs massive respect. Just start out in the lower winds and work up. Best would be to get a shot of one if you could. Quote
Chris Bainbridge Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 Yeah Samauri's really are rich girls and childrens kites, The Blade 3 pretty much defines powerkiting. The 4.9 is awesome and fits in nicely above my 3m but then so will the 4m, just depends how much power you want, both the 4m and the 4.9 are amazing kites. Quote
Cramoboy Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 My first kite was the Blade III 4m and I've loved every minute of it, from ripping the bungee out of the kite killer wrist straps when launching in the power zone in a gale (my god, did it pull hard!!) to getting head high jumps. Be ready to assume the position of the blade flyer if you get one (arms being pulled from sockets above head) but you'll love it. Just got a depowerable but no wind yet to really try it. More money but hopefully more flexibility cos can use it on water one day. If you think you might do that or you want more kite stability then think about de-power. Quote
craikeybaby Posted December 8, 2004 Report Posted December 8, 2004 If anyone wants a blade 4m I have one gathering dust. 150 quid! Quote
