geo3ew Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 Hey I was just wondering if any kite landboarders out there have suffered any knee ligament injuries and if you have had a ligament reconstruction how are you getting on with kite landboarding now? It might seem a really specific question but a suprising amount of people injure knee ligaments playing football or in my case skateboarding. So I was hoping I could see how people had got on as I really want to get into kiting again when I'm back on my feet, but am unsure how I'll handle it as people have so many different experiences with knee ligaments. Would be great to hear about peoples experiences. Thanks v much. Ed Quote

Been skating, snowboarding , and landboarding and using my knees (well knee pads) to slide out of almost every bad situation......beyond those few concusions I got skateboarding .........what was I saying again? Don't worry, the worst thing that could happen is you will get reserved parking and invent a new sport Kitewheelchairing (KWC). Or wheel kiting, or Offroad capable flying Quote
air stiffler Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 really mangaled my right knee up a few years ago but i seem to get on ok can ache a bit at times but otherwise its good as, should'nt worry about it would rather tell my kids i messed up my leg on a landboard than falling down the stairs Quote
adamski Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 I broke my knee quite badly, some tendon damage too. I use a kneebrace, this means no pain the day after. Well worth the money. Quote
T42 Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 I too have suffered the joys of a fractured pettella. (1/2" gap between the two halves. Don't recommend that, it makes your eyes water a little). It does not stop me kiting, but sometimes the aches say otherwise. But what the hell you only live once and I'm sure once they have inserted a replacemnt pettella in a few years. I will have extended my kiting time until total body failure. Quote
geo3ew Posted November 14, 2004 Author Report Posted November 14, 2004 Thanks v much guys its nice to hear that people are thrashing their joints and can still kite landboard. Hopefully I'll be able to do it again end of next year. Gotta have knee reconstruction first! I'm just trying to work out the physics of it so that I can't snap the ligament again when i have it stitched back up. Think I will have to get a beast of a knee brace to help. Cu later Ed Quote
fivefoothigh Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 Errrrr well i duffed my ankle up quite badly a while agotloadsa stretched ligament and a hairline fracture it was put in a walkable cast so i continued bugging (thought boarding was a bit much. the advice i can give on landboarding is that you should let it heal completely and take a few risks as possible dont go out just because its windy (however windy) because when the conditions arnt right you are more likely to hurt yourself..
