  1. I took the safety line out of a few of my Vio's...once it is gone, you may just realize how great the safety system is. I hate the tangles of an extra line and the mess of gathering it all back in after an uneasy momement, but, I found I never used that line unless it came down a possible injury. The ability to completely depower a kite is more than just a slight bonus in some cases. A trait that is missed when it is not there anymore. Needless to say most of my Vio's now have the line back or are on handles. Mee: if you can make a rough sketch of a few of those mods, I would like to post them on my site. I have tried a modified wing warp on my VR8, but am still working out the bugs. I didn't buy the kit, just made it from the instructions on their site using parts I had from the kite.
  2. Which one are you trying to modify? and what size? I have found the VR/Proteus sizes over 12 meters should have the outside lines shortened slightly to speed them up. You can also play with the riser lenghts a bit for an increased AoA. I havent found the second as useful as the first. I havent found a reason to mess with the Protean 2 at all. It turns quick enough to satisfy my needs and provides loads of lift if used correctly.
  3. yeah, I am pimping the Vio Protean 2 pretty hard lately. Unlike the other Vio's I had this one suits my stlye much more. Flew the Protean out of the buggy the other day..it's kinda challenging using a bar from the buggy, but it worked out pretty well. I still got your buggy and a PL Bigfoot too. If you want your buggy, I will sell it back to ya at the same price I got it from you for.
  4. thanks for the link. ...Maybe some 15 inch rims on the back with low profile tires?
  5. Holla at a playa .......I knew someone had tried out the spinners. Now if I can just fit a Jeep speaker bar to the the back of my buggy. I am gonna need some crushed velvet for my seat.
  6. think these would work for big pimpin? http://www.gokartsupply.com/spinner.htm http://www.gokartsupply.com/img/1178.jpg
  7. sorta...not IRC though. Just a chat room with all the bells and wistles like emoticons, sounds, pm, and voice chat. I put it up there, but I think the draw back will be getting people to use it. The only time you really see people using a chat room is to try and hook up. Oh well, I put it up there and it is free to use. I will try it out for a couple of months, if no one uses it, I will take it down and put something else in it's place.
  8. Check it out, just added live kite chat to my webpage. What do you think good idea or just a waste of page length?
  9. Same reason US kite dealers are not allowed to sell to kites to other countries and vice versa with the UK. If you spend tons of money on advertisments, promos and demos in you country you don't want someone underselling you after you did all the work and spent all the money. It happens, but if the manufacturer finds out, they can have your dealership for that kite company revoked. When I was looking for riders, I did not realize it fell under this type thing or I would have never have done it. It is much easier to find a talented UK rider without a sponsor. Thats why I was willing to go outside US borders to find one. With the internet making pictures, and video available to anyone with a computer, I could have the kite demoed my top quality riders to everyone right at their desktop. Too bad, it backfired on me in a serious way.
  10. Not fair, the election was similar to picking which revolver to play Russian Roulette with.
  11. so long that the forum software shortened it for me?
  12. http://www.thatthingwhereyoustandonaboardthingandgetpulledalongbyabiggiantkitething.com sure makes for a long URL.......
  13. I hope this isn't the direction the sport is going in. It just seems like it would push the sport in a more extreme direction than I want to go...especially when I would have to worry about a forced enema by "spikey things"
  14. There have been some great riders send me pics and videos, to you I say thanks for the interest. I would have been lucky to have any of you representing the TR. Unfortunately, I found out that I can't sponsor anyone to ride in the UK. Sorry for wasting your time. I am sure most of you will find a company that can use your talents, I sure could have.
  15. For those of you who asked, the kite is the Vio Kite Protean 2 . http://www.tempestriders.com/vio/Protean.htm http://www.tempestriders.com/vio/Protean.jpg
  16. I take it when some one frowns on you, you get upset? Smack them with your kite, they will stop frowning on you then. It will just turn to screaming. If you hit them with the kite without a leash, you can just bail the scene from there. No kite attatched means a quicker get away. Things could be worse, you could fly all day without a leash or kite killers in a spot like mine.....problem is, it is more fun to fly with a group. Conform to the group or be an outcast. What fun choices.
  17. PM me for more details http://www.tempestriders.com/team.jpg http://www.tempestriders.com/team.htm
  18. when you body drag down a field it is always nice to have some extra plastic to ride on. Seems everytime I don't put them on, I wind up feeling out all the rocks in a field with my elbows.
  19. Tempest Riders is looking to sponsor a few riders world wide. I need a few good riders to show of the capabilities of a new kite. Got any videos or pictures to show case your tallent? send them to me at info@tempestriders.com
  20. I have stuffed my ankles more than a few times. They ache now and then. Been skating, snowboarding , and landboarding and using my knees (well knee pads) to slide out of almost every bad situation......beyond those few concusions I got skateboarding .........what was I saying again? Don't worry, the worst thing that could happen is you will get reserved parking and invent a new sport Kitewheelchairing (KWC). Or wheel kiting, or Offroad capable flying
  21. Dude, things are looking pretty rough for me for awhile. I am further in the red than I have ever been....selling the Frenzy for food:D THE MAN is coming to get my Durango! The governent is about 2 months behind on my payements, so no DBBB for me. Even if I went, I won't have a kite to fly and Brian is skipping it to go kite snowboarding. Utah got dumped on.
  22. Freaky you flying again yet? John must have nobody to fly with these days. I have tried the C-quad a few times, but it seems to like less gusty and turbulent air than what I have here.
  23. I have seen that one. Pretty insane stuff! Last time I talked to him he was compiling stuff to make a DVD.
  24. I have owned a Hyline for about a year and a half. They are pretty sweet boards. They are very stout and can take a good beating. They are a little on the heavy end, but would always choose it over my Flexi. The Hyline doesn't get much action now that I found GI, but it is a close second in my opinion. The skate truck model may be a good choice to lighten it up.
  25. well everytime the wind blows I think about both. I have had frustrating days kiting but never had a day filled with sex that was frustrating. I think if I had to eliminate one it would be kiting. But on a day to day basis if the chance to kite in good conditions was put against it, kiting would win.
