Violator Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 Yup, main aim of getting out is to use the 10m!! Are there footie posts up at Tinshill? Any dog dirt to worry about? regards, greg Tinshill top has got footie posts, went past at 1.pm and was looking go ,go wind Quote
rickp101 Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 I have driven up to Tinshill before to see what it was like on an evening and there was quite a lot of football and rugby players training and having a kickaround and they were all spread out across the pitches which didn't leave a nice clear area at all for boarding. Will give it a go though if others are gonna be up there tonight as it isn't exactly far to go. Should be able to get there for about 5.30 assuming traffic isn't gridlocked by petrol buyers. Anyone gonna be up there? Quote
gregh Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 Ok, let's go for Tinshill. Hopefully at 5:30 there won't be any training on! I'll be there, 5/5.30 it's nearer than Ponte for me! cheers, greg Quote
asid_promo1 Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 i should be there for 5.45. its usually quite empty at that time (hopefully) looking forward to it (no mountainboard though:( ) Quote
gregh Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 ok, just let me check that I'm going to the fields in Cookridge, above the Asda/school, near the fire station/huge microwave tower??? Quote
asid_promo1 Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 thats the one, but not sure its a microwave tower, surely we would all get fried! maybe im wrong see you there Quote
rickp101 Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 no mountainboard though:( I will be on and off of mine as I need some static practise with my 5m as it was pulling me off my feet last time I took it out in decent wind. You're welcome to borrow it. Quote
gregh Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 hi Rick, Adam Nice to meet you both and swop gear. 'twos a good but frustrating fly! Reckon it was 15-22mph+ gusting!! Bit scary when the 10m lofted me when standing still before you turned up!! Ponte or York next, then we can work out the best, consistent site in West Yorkshire!!! regards, Greg Quote
rickp101 Posted September 14, 2005 Report Posted September 14, 2005 Yeah, good to put some faces to names from the forum. Am hoping for some wind on Saturday as I have nothing planned. If so will probably head to York or Ponte assuming there is any petrol left in Yorkshire. Quote
gregh Posted September 15, 2005 Report Posted September 15, 2005 anyone out tomorrow? Maybe heading to Roundhay early evening if there's wind around. Quote

DreadedTom Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Just a quick note: Leeds Uni Kite Soc. is now up and running. If anyone on here goes to Leeds Uni and hasnt signed up yet then drop us an email at luukitesociety@yahoo.co.uk The more members we get the more kites we get! Cheers Tom Quote
lazarus Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 how strict is the going to leeds uni bit of that? Quote
rickp101 Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 how strict is the going to leeds uni bit of that? Haha, I was thinking the same thing. I used to go to Uni (not Leeds) and with my job am currently learning French and the tutor is from Leeds Met Uni (well its close!) which for the next 20 weeks makes me a student there (NUS card and everything!). Does that qualify me? No, oh well I tried But hey if you are ever short on numbers for trips or just want more friendly kiters to come along when you fly around Leeds give us a shout on here. Quote
someinspiration Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 my sister has just joined leeds uni so i will no doubt end up meeting some of you in the near future (either late october, or new year when everyone comes back from christmas) managed to convince my sister to join the uni kite society, shes coming out this weekend - would someone mind bringing a small 4-liner for her to try out? it would be very, very cool if you lot could help me to convert her, then i have someone to kite with nearby (when shes here), and someone to give me lifts to the decent fields Quote
lazarus Posted October 1, 2005 Report Posted October 1, 2005 normally wouldn't be a problem, but i've been up in durham all saturday and am planning on been on the beach for sunday. if she can make it to redcar she's more than welcome to have a go. Quote

rickp101 Posted October 7, 2005 Report Posted October 7, 2005 Watcha got? Currently looking to get a depower and at the moment thinking about Psycho2 10m or Venom 13m but want to try both before I decide. Don't suppose anyone who flies around Leeds or somewhere not too far away has either of these and wants to demo / 'demo & sell' do they? Quote
Simon Edmonds Posted October 10, 2005 Report Posted October 10, 2005 We were out at Roundhay Park in Leeds yesterday with the 7m Banshee - It was quite strange talking to Lazarus who was resting from flying it as he suddenly just lifted vertically about 4 feet... Raising Lazarus - maybe we should rename it... Quote
gregh Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 rick, there are venom fliers at knavesmire, was flying with then on Sunday. Quote
rickp101 Posted October 11, 2005 Report Posted October 11, 2005 Thanks Greg, Will have to head over to York soon then. Quote
