Best give Stopsley a miss today - Just been up there for an hour, and they are setting up for Cross country running, and the course is marked out around the field. So not much room for flying.

Wind is also VERY gusty 0 - 30mph and far worse than it was on Friday. :(

just got back. thought i would chance it glad i did. cross contry was over by 11.30 not in the way at all. very gusty 10 to 25 but good fun. quite a few on the field had it all to myself till 1. didn't risk the 6.6 blade not brave enough today, but had the 6.0m pro up. the guy from the frenzy family sorry can't remember his name pulled off a good jump but a little to high for his second one ever, hurt his ankle after a bad landing. left at 4 just as some guy with a kitewing turned up:eek:

I was the guy with the Kitewing, I've only tried it at Stopsley a couple of times and today was the only the time with some success. :)

Even with the Dirtsurfer's bigger wheels the soft, wet ground and grass combined with generally poor low altitude clean wind makes it pretty slow up there, compared to a good hard beach (or tarmac industrial area!!) where I can manage some very high speed runs with good turns and upwind tacks without stopping. Overall might be slower and harder work than a buggy, or board, kite combo but its still good to try and master another wind toy.

The next embarrassing thing to try will be the Dirtsurfer with a kite - not too keen yet as I can only lead with 1 foot so far!!

There used to be a guy fly almost every week last year with a Dirtsurfer and his Blades. Think his normal kite was a 4.9 ? But only seen him a few times this year.

Guy who I spoke to (Event Organiser) when I arrived, while they were still setting up said, it was a big event, as they had cancelled ALL the football matches, so they could hold the cross country running.

Just reading your post, He wasn't that helpful explaining...

No worries still got loads of holiday so good chance I will be there a few times before christmas, in the week. :D

true al no football forgot to mention that. yeah running was well out of the way just start and finish over by the gravel pitch. don't know were the course was exactly but they appeared behind us at the kissing gate turned right followed the fence back round to gravel pitch , however there was one old guy who walked but he was soooo slow they had already packed up so he didn't know were the finish was.
