jay1lk Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 Hi. Can anyone recommend somewhere that will sell replacement bladders. Need to replace 1 of my wipika struts. Failing that can anyone suggest any good diy repairs for approx 2" hole. Cheers in advance J Quote
kiteingcolin Posted July 4, 2004 Report Posted July 4, 2004 is this the typical end of bladder blow out, or a seam split, if its the end then its dead (you can seal it across and use it for a smaller strut) if its a hole then either try a motorcycle innertube repair patch, or find someone like me who can repair it by sliting it open (along the seam) , laying it flat with an oversize patch of old bladder over the hole, cover with greaseproof paper (you can see through this and your sealing iron will not stick) borrow the wifes/mums iron and set it on low and use the edge of it to fuse the patch to the main strut, then seal the slit back up, easy! if you cock it up then order one from surfstore/ or robinhood watersports, poss big wait, or find a naish strut bladder, bigger than you need, and bung it in, the naish ones have a bigger area below the valve so will fit most kites, i carry spare bladders with me all the time, for just in case days,if you fail in all the above then order a couple of spares from herehttp://www.kitesurfingairtime.com/ 3-5 days turnaround Quote

Tom S1599968609 Posted July 5, 2004 Report Posted July 5, 2004 If you have trouble finding replacements you can try the repair techniques described in the link below. I have repaired a bladder from a 16m storm like this and although i no longer have the kite i believe the repair is still holding!! http://www.customkites.com/news2003/bladder/index.htm Quote
