big-jon Posted July 18, 2004 Author Report Posted July 18, 2004 If people are looking for pilots to make up teams, there is a form at http://www.kitebeachclub.org/ that can be used to show teams looking for them. All you do is register and then say how many people you are looking for to make up your team. Hope this helps Quote
Gray Cloud Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 At the moment there may well be only about 20 pilots registered but there are a considerable amount of teams who have not registered all of their pilots. I am personally sure we will get around 15 teams unfortunately we may well be missing a few guys from WSM as they have a club race meet on that weekend. Some are defiantly coming though. Gray Quote
Mark Rose Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 Loads of people were talking about it at the supercup....deffo going to be popular:) Quote
8015 Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 OK, I don't expect to have much success getting any more Scots down for the race (Flydad is going to be too busy, Bill W isn't keen on enduro, etc.) which leaves me with a transport deficit. I can probably get to, or near enough to Ainsdale by public transport with my drysuit and kites, so if you have an undersubscribed team and can loan me a buggy I might be up for it. I'm still working on last weekends shoulder sprain from rolling my buggy at Hoylake, I have reasonabkle movement and was reasonably successful kitesurfing today (bar flying is so easy) so could be fit in time...... Thinking about it, one pilot has to stop before the next starts so could use the same buggy, but it would need to fit OK, I couldn't do 2 hours in a flexi buggy with the pegs too close (managed 5 mins today). Let me know if you are interested, my supercup record is currently only blemished by completing laps in one race so far Of course I have still to sort my shoulder out. JIM Quote
buggy boy2002 Posted July 19, 2004 Report Posted July 19, 2004 Big jon, did u get any more info on that accomodation for the irish posse Quote
pauljarvis Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Sorry if this has been asked, I have tried to scan this post b4 asking, is it possible to buggy on Ainsdale on the Friday. If so I will come up then rather than Saturday morning. Quote
big-jon Posted July 20, 2004 Author Report Posted July 20, 2004 As long as you have insurance then yes no probs - any other questions just mail me - bigjon@blueyonder.co.uk MadAndy71 1 Quote
big-jon Posted July 21, 2004 Author Report Posted July 21, 2004 Hi all, Its 3 weeks to go and things are hotting up a bit, more people are now registering and contacting me for accomodation details and to ask questions about the event. As for the accomodation at Pontins we need at least 10 groups before we can book anything, so far we have got 6 so if anyone is considering it we need to know and get deposits paid before the weekend. There are 2 campsites around the immediate area, but these are pretty small with 1 only able to take 20 people and the other seems a bit expensive. I still think Pontins is the best option. There are lots of guest houses and hotels in Southport, but I would advise booking before you came up, and if you used a guest house you would have to consider what you will do with your equipment. If anyone wants directions to the beach then use - http://www.wenpet.fsnet.co.uk/ - there is a link on this site showing the beach and 'parakart area'. If anyone wants more details then dont hesitate to contact me. All pilots entering the race will be able to use the beach on Friday, permits may be required, but I will be able to sort these for people as I will be on the 'parakart area' all Friday. As stated all pilots must be asessed prior to the event to ensure we meet Fed rules for insurance. If anyone does come up on the Friday I will then be able to do this then to save a bit of time on Saturday. Can I remind people of the 'parakart area' openings and availability to non-competitors. The 'parakart area' and beach is open to Kitesurfers all weekend, although I would ask and know that they will keep away from the race area and take care when coming back in from the sea once the race has started. The 'parakart area' will not be able to used by landboarders and non-competitors when the race is on. If the race is completed on Saturday then it will be open to all on the Sunday. If not then again on the Sunday the 'parakart area' will be closed to all except competitors. Once the race has finished the 'parakart area' will also be open to all on the Saturday and the Sunday night. The 'parakart area' is open as usual on the Friday, but I would expect a practise course to be set up. We are expecting and trying to arrange some kind of entertainment for the Saturday night on the beach and 'parakart area'. Hopefully a big BBQ and some kind of music entertainment. If the weather is nice then I do expect people to be on the beach till late, enjoying the lovley sunsets we get and the general ambience of the beach. Hope this helps - as I have said if anyone needs advice on the Pontins bookings then please contact anne@microface.com - if anyone wants any more info on the event, directions or anything else then please contact me on bigjon@blueyonder.co.uk Quote
SandMonster Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 John, Could I suggest when you talk about 'the beach', you actually use the words 'parakart area'? This might save confusion & save you from some unnecessary flames? Just an idea...Mike Quote
buggy boy2002 Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 sorry to ask again but do yu no the price of the house for one nite the irish posse will be needing two apartments Quote
big-jon Posted July 22, 2004 Author Report Posted July 22, 2004 Sorry buggyboy but the best we can do is a 2 night stay. Let me know if you still want this, if not give me an idea of your budget and if you want campsite or Hotel and I will do my best to sort you out. Quote
buggy boy2002 Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 even if u didnt get a deal on the hotel do u no how much it cost normally Quote
big-jon Posted July 22, 2004 Author Report Posted July 22, 2004 Rooms in Southport can be as little as £11 per person per night - depends on how much you really wanna spend, there are a couple of camp sites around the area if you want to tent it. Quote
SandMonster Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Don't forget the Travel Inn, Travel Lodge etc. that do room rates rather than per person. I think there's one just where you come off the M57 near Liverpool - don't know if there's any that are closer? Quote
bigred1599968607 Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 the paddy possie is sorted in the holiday inn express in m57 jct 4 knowsley lock up ur wives and daughters theres a few single blokes comin over ( joke ) Quote
