You may be able to recognise Simon by the way he's flying a buster on a depower bar, or maybe not this time - more tweaks to the rig?

This event is getting real close and I still have no team (and my shoulder still hurts from Hoylake). :( :( :( you will recognise me by the way I'm not there (judging by current plans).

Come on Boater mate you can do it. If you want I could arrange for you to be picked up from the train station, If you need anything else mate, just let me know and I will try to help as I can. I could even try to get a buggy sorted, my old one just needs 2 wheels, as I am using the 2 B/F lights that I used to use on it, on my Barracuda.

Yeah I'll be the one flying de-power Busters ona bar - now upgraded to 5mm Dyneema, looped and whipped, all stainless fittings, etc, etc.

I might even have my new development bar with me, but it's being designed for use with a board, so might not be suitable for the buggy.

Glad to see the N.I Boys are making it over :D:D:D

Jon, I've got some spare B/F lights that you could borrow for Boater to use on your old bug. I'll be bringing them anyway. 20mm axles.

Boater, Nev (LoveKylie) and myself are running a 2 man team, so we get to do 3 1 hour stints :D I'm sure you can "con" someone into coming down :D:D

how will the 3 man team thing work?

change every hour?

minimum no of changes?

or something else entirely?

also does there HAVE to be 3 team members?

struggling for a definite third atm and to be honest we would be happy to share the 6hours between the 2 of us.

i am sure there will be the odd person looking for a team but if they are loads better or worse than the rest of the team it could cause some resentment. (it seems a bit daft to stick a euro qualifier with a couple of guys in plc buggies flying bullets for a laugh just to makeup the numbers)

I thought it'd be a laugh to put everone's name in a hat and "draw" the teams. You could end up with real differences in ability, but it'd get people mixing with people they wouldn't normally mix with.

Just my idle thoughts........

I could be onto something here!

Shoulder is recovering nicely, going to hit the water this weekend (actually this afternoon) so if it holds up OK kitesurfing so soon I should be good to buggy (hope my doc doesn't read this).

Buggy from Big-Jon, Wheels from BusterBoy (bearing sizes?), Bring my own kites, arrange a lift from a station, if all else fails enter a team of 1 and leave some red bull in the pits......

I'm going to have to get this sorted over the weekend :)

Oh joy, finish work in 30 minutes, bus home, grab the kitesurf gear, go look for a train, could be at the coast in 3 hours time! Not expecting to have time to organise anything tonight :D

Actually part of my ideas (and others not claiming this my idea alone) for a event next year

Dawn Till Dusk

Team Enduro event starting 1 hour after sunrise until 1 hour before sun set (so 14-15 hours if right time of year)

People will enter at least 1 month in advance

Will be free to enter but will need to get sponsership for a charity to be decided

1 month before event will pick teams out of hat (might even use handy cap system)

Teams of 4/5 with each member having to buggy for at least 2 hours

Each team will have to also provide a scorer for a set period during the day (Cant imagine any normal person wanting to score all day :) )

I want something that is fun/unpredictable and good publicity to show we are all nice guys and gals

KOTS - Sorry but I did try and give anyone who was interested in the Pontins offer a deadline of today. I have not had 10 parties wishing to book so the offer can not be booked. If I can help in anyway, by getting you a camp site or a guest house/hotel, then let me know and I will sort it for the event.

could you PM me a number i can call as i need to speak to my other team ppl 1st, so i might not be able to contact you thru the web, if needs be then jamie lives about 2hrs away so if it doesnt get run on the 1st day then we will just go home and come back.

Extra bump from me!

Fairly sure (90%) that I have a lift and probably one other team member now (also possibly a practice week at hoylake :) ), so should be registering in a couple of days when some details are worked out.

Still a couple of questions though....

Does it have to be 3 members or can you pay the £30 between 1 or 2 and pretend to be 3 people?

How much will the day/weekend membership of the FED be to non-members?

What is going to be required for the certificate of competence? My mate who has landboarded and jumped and kitesurfed is interested, but he doesn't have much time to learn to buggy (I'm sure he will pick it up easily enough and learn the rules) now beforethe event! I figure if he avoids the start and doesn't get a turn until the pack is spread out he will be just fine, I mean kite skills are all there!

It's too late for Pontins - did anyone work out what other accomodation options there are? If I am spending the preceeding week at WSYC I might just leave my bedding there and head back.... which is less sociable I know!

Boater - glad you can make it buddy !

Answers -

£10 per member of the team - I will have to check with Gray about only 2 people doing it

£5 per member for non-Fed members (Fed rules not mine)

As for competence, it will be me assessing it, if I feel he could cope in a race then he will be ok.

There is a camp site down the road, only small though. Pontins may still be available, you just have to now book it yourself. Online is cheaper.

If I can help with anything Boater dont hesitiate to get in touch with me - that also goes for anyone. KOTS recently phoned me from his holiday in Spain to arrange some camping for him !!!

Hi Folks,

Well under two weeks to go and I am now running around trying to tie up loose ends and make sure everything is running ok. For anyone who is considering running an event then I can tell you it is a serious amount of work !!!

To begin I must ensure that everyone is clear that the proposed suspension of activites at Ainsdale has no effect on the event, so if you do actually bother to read any of the threads on the subject, then don't worry.

I was told by Gray yesterday that all cheques sent in for payment for the race have not been processed, this is because they are all made out to the PKA, and as you may know the PKA has no involvment in this event. This means that all monies will be taken before the event. So it would make everyones life easier if you could either register on the Friday or try to get there early on the Saturday so all the paperwork can be completed.

Whilst on the subject of paperwork, Sefton Council have said that only members of the Fed can race and all competitors must also be members of the local club - Kitebeach club. This will mean that anyone who is not a Fed member must fill out a day membership form and pay an extra £5 and everyone must sign another form saying that they are day members of the Kitebeach club.

I have also posted saying before that all pilots must be assessed for their competence in a buggy, this will be easy for most of you as you will have competed in races before so I will just be able to sign the form. For anyone who has not raced before or is not know by the organisers then I will need to see you piloting a buggy. Again I hope that this will not cause any problems and can be delt with swiftly.

Due to the present issues at Ainsdale I am sure that you can all see that this event is a crucial one. A lot of Council members will be watching very carefully how this event works. I know that everyone who will be taking part will ensure that this event runs without any incidents and that it is a success. The Council are consdering a lot more future events but, the outcome of this event will decide the future of those events.

We will post more details nearer the day as to the times and details of the actual race. I will also post maps and details of how to find Ainsdale.

If anyone wants any specific maps or any other details then please do not hesitate to contact me - j.lewis@kitebeachclub.org

I am sure the e mail I got back when I registered said to make cheques payable to PKA but I cannot find it now.

Good luck with keeping beach access.

As the Ainsdale club and the Super Cup are now recognised by the Fed they are now covered by the Fed insurance as long as all who are competing are Fed members. For those who are not already a Fed club member then they can either join a club now or take out temporary day membership of the club hosting the event which in this case is Ainsdale.

The involvement of the PKA is no longer necessary.

This was the only way the insurance could be arranged for the event. Pilots may not like it but it is this way or nothing at all.

This will be the case for all future Super Cup events for 2005. Realistically if you are not a member of a Fed club you should join one or start one asap if you want to race in the future.
