EvilTwin Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 just won this on ebay: http://i9.ebayimg.com/01/i/01/ce/12/35_1_b.JPG I can sort most of it (wheels, foot pegs etc), but i'm wondering how the seats are made on DIY bugs. Any suggestions welcome. Quote
oc1rob Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 why not try to find a PL Comp seat looks as if it would probably drop right in?? Quote
Muttley Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 webbing would do it like this original pl comp http://www.harwoods-yacht-chandlers.co.uk/evolution/kite_lynn_buggy_15337.jpg Quote
EvilTwin Posted May 19, 2004 Author Report Posted May 19, 2004 why not try to find a PL Comp seat looks as if it would probably drop right in?? from what the bloke selling says, the side spars are 58 cm apart and 22cm long on the straight part from the axle forward, would a PL seat fit ok??? Quote
Muttley Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 the standard pl seat has lots of adjustable straps & will deffo fit my only concern is the height of the back axle which will mean you will end up with quite a high seating position. if the seat is dropped lower, the axle will be painful on the old back so may need some padding added Quote
EvilTwin Posted May 19, 2004 Author Report Posted May 19, 2004 need to get some foot pegs added, so i was thinking on getting a loop welded on the axle to make a back rest, if i cover everything in pipe lagging, it should offer some support / comfort which reminds me anyone know of a supplier of those nylon & velcro pipe lagging covers??? or will i have to make them??? Wot4 Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 The back axle setup and size is exactly the same as my Flexifoil original buggy, which I also won on ebay last year the same as you frame only, the pl comp seat fits a dream and as was said loads of adjustable straps!!!! Quote
Wot4 Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 meant to say can email you a pic if you like to see what I mean, unless someone can give a quick tutorial on how you put pics on here:o Quote
cboshier Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 if you want to make one, you can get all you need from www.sailcloth.co.uk/kayospruce.htm i make up a paper and masking tape template to what looks right then make it up and allow lots of adjustment from straps etc. however you can probably get a PL seat for around £35 so is it worth the hassle? your call....the bits will cost you about £8 + P&P depending on amount of buckles etc. Quote
backyard buggy Posted May 22, 2004 Report Posted May 22, 2004 just won this on ebay: http://i9.ebayimg.com/01/i/01/ce/12/35_1_b.JPG I can sort most of it (wheels, foot pegs etc), but i'm wondering how the seats are made on DIY bugs. Any suggestions welcome.....i made me own buggy and the seat caused some head scratching, in the end i used conyevor belting and heavy duty cable ties, and it works really well ,is comfortable and really strong(have modified it about 20 times but i think ihave got it right now)..the belting could be sourced from offcuts cheaply and is strong enough to drill holes tru and will take quite apounding ...hope this helps Quote
EvilTwin Posted May 22, 2004 Author Report Posted May 22, 2004 just curious, when people say try a pl comp seat, are you on about the comp ST or the comp XR???? PS if anyone has a spare PL seat they dont need, pm me Quote
EvilTwin Posted May 22, 2004 Author Report Posted May 22, 2004 oh, while i'm thinking about it, on profesionally made bugs: do the foot pegs sit horizontal, or to they tilt up / back???? Quote
